Excellent version of a tune that is often played too fast by folks who are not up to the task. Country gents, Larry Sparks, a few others “get it” this is just so delightfully different! I saw Keith Whitley twice with Ralph Stanley, he could put the hammer down with the best of them but, here I think he really allows his amazing voice to shine!!

Most of the time, the passing of Keith Whitley makes me so sad. Sometimes, however, it makes me mad as hell. Why did he have to die? Can you imagine how much farther his career would've went? He was already an all-time great. It breaks my heart even today.

He couldn’t be helped. Had his stomach pumped so many times, overdosed countless times. 34 is actually a long time for how he drank.

@@mikejones6486 I've been pickin bluegrass since the early 70's, and have been following Keith's career since that same time. While he was an upstanding young man, he did have a dependency on alcohol, that and having a wife that was laying up with half the men in Nashville, was, I guess, to much to bear. R.I.P. Keith, you will be missed. 😔

James Castle ROFL!!!!!!! Who in the sam hill are Sparks n Duffey?????????????? You must mean separately, because those names were never together in any semblance of bluegrass music. If you are in some way referring to the existence of some recording between Larry Sparks & John Duffey, you must be as drunk as a fly swimming in a 55 gallon drum of mash. Larry Sparks & John Duffey very likely, couldn't have gotten along well, if they'd ever been in the same room for very long.....................much less recording anything together. LOL P.S. Keith Whitley could sing "Grimm's fairy Tales" & make you believe they were REAL!!!!!!! John Duffey & Larry Sparks are two of my favorites, but Keith was in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEAGUE!!!!!!!
