If they don't professionally film the whole musical with this cast I'm gonna be really disappointed. Everyone deserves to see this, even if they can't come to see the show live.

Mark Gable Well it seems that her family is part Irish so perhaps that could've helped her. Idk. I remember that she did a British accent in MY Fair Lady too so this isn't the first time she's done it.

The kids must have had lots of fun doing the show! Being a mom offstage must have developed Ms. O'Hara's way with them. I've seen her in South Pacific and Peter Pan Live.

I have no intention on putting one actress against another. I will say this though. Seeing and listening to the many years of work by Kelli O'Hara. She has achieved a task that seems to grow smaller by the day. At least in my opinion. I feel she has the ability to mesh astonishing vocal technique beautifully to her multifaceted acting. I see that some have commented on having one or the other in tact. I have never doubted Mrs. O'Hara would attempt to favor one over the other as she has always interpreted (from my point of view) as a whole that can't be separated. As for the "operatic" comment. Now I adore opera. However having heard my share (including Kelli singing it) and numerous theatre productions. Being a soprano does not mean you sing operatically. And clearly Kelli is giving a beautiful theatrical soprano turn. If you want to hear her performing an aria. Check out the marvelous clips form her time last yea'rs The Merry Widow. :)

[ANNA] [Spoken] It's a very ancient saying, But a true and honest thought, That if you become a teacher, By your pupils you'll be taught. [Singing] As a teacher I've been learning -- You'll forgive me if I boast -- And I've now become an expert, On the subject I like most. [Spoken] Getting to know you. [Singing] Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, Putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, My cup of tea. [ANNA AND THE MOTHERS] Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, Putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, [ANNA] My cup of tea. [ALL] Getting to know you, Getting to feel free and easy When I am with you, Getting to know what to say Haven't you noticed Suddenly I'm bright and breezy? Because of all the beautiful and new Things I'm learning about you Day by day. Getting to know you, Getting to feel free and easy When I am with you, Getting to know what to say Haven't you noticed Suddenly I'm bright and breezy? Because of all the beautiful and new Things I'm learning about you Day .. by ... day.

I remember watching the animated adaption from the 90s but forgot a lot other than the name Tuptim, that Anna was the teacher, and there was a kind of hidden romance. I'm really interested in seeing this so I hope they film this stage adaption.

gotsome2002 Thank you VERY much for sharing! I'm addicted to this revival cast right now. Anything I can find, I latch onto it. Especially since I will not be able to see it in New York. (I will gladly catch the National Tour when it comes to my city) Of course this musical is a masterpiece on it's own but I have to confess that as a massive Kelli fan. My excitement has gone up ten fold! She is angelic and the children are as precious as they come. :)

mysticsmb Agreed! This is not opera, just a beautiful soprano voice minus the slightly nasally Broadway style that is sometimes used in newer shows. And yes, very reminiscent of Julie Andrews, who also had a flawless voice, though not operatic.
@mimmar3891
9 жыл бұрын
seethevolcane I would call this classic Broadway style, not operatic. I've noticed some newer shows tend toward a slightly nasally modern sounding style, but that would be all wrong for this show. I think Kelli did a superb job.
