Ken Shamrock going from MMA to "Wrestling Entertainment" he fit right in and seemed like a seasoned veteran. Ken had the look, Physicality, the persona, even good promos. He was a standout and a trailblazer for guys like Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Steve Blackman, Dan Severan. Although I have to say that that Dan Severan and Steve Blackman seemed very out of place in Wrestling. Ken Shamrock doesn't get enough credit for all he has done in "Pro Wrestling"
@Retrorevelations
5 жыл бұрын
To be perfectly fair, Ken Shamrock started out as a Pro Wrestler first, not an MMA fighter. He got into MMA, technically, while wrestling in Japan. He started pro wrestling in 1989. So if anything, he came back to wrestling after MMA, not coming with no wrestling background. He looked smooth because he he had the experience already. As for Severn, he too was a pro wrestler before he got popular in UFC. He was wrestling back in 1992. He certainly has a different style in the pro wrestling ring, he wrestles like an amateur wrestler/shoot fighter. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I wouldn't say he seems out of place. And Steve Blackman also was a pro wrestler first. I mean, he may have been doing martial arts, non-MMA, but he was also wrestling in Stampede Wrestling and New Japan back in 1988/89. He was actually going to go to WWF, but then he got very sick, and took years to get better and rehab his body. So his wrestling career was basically on forced hiatus for years, and he wound up debuting in the late 90s instead. But again, I'd hardly say he didn't look good in the ring. His matches against Shamrock, Owen Hart, and even that match against Shane McMahon, were really good. You could argue that Blackman (and Severn) simply weren't used right. Or in Severn's case, he was barely used at all, because idiots like Vince Russo "didn't get him".

I think Ken deserves a lot more credit for what he did for WWE. Chris is right, he did pave the way for guy's like Lesnar, Angle, Lashley, and even females like Rousey and Baysler. Ken was the first ever NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Champion as well as King of the Ring winner. WWE not only dropped the ball with Shamrock, but they ruined him and that was just ridiculous. I remember being so pissed that shamrock left that I stopped watching for a while because he was my favorite thing about WWF at the time.

Such a great interview and down to earth dude. I’d love to just sit down in front of a beer and have a long conversation with him.

Loved Shamrock back in the day! Always remember his feud with Steve Blackman, two legit guys and underrated in the business.

The way you talk about Raid: Shadow Legends feels like you actually play the game not just are sponsered by them and never played it like most channels. Awesome interview Chris, great job brother!

Ken shamrock is a legend, one guy from the attitude era that doesn’t get credit for what he done back then, he definitely deserved a world title run back then

Ken Shamrock is 55 years of age and he could still kick the crap outta guys 30 years younger than him. He's still in insane shape and it's great to see an old wwf guy looking so great

Ken seems like such a cool dude to chat with. He was a bit of a missed opportunity by the WWE in the 90s, they could have and should have done better with him but with the roster of charisma filled wrestlers at the time, I feel like Ken's promo skills just didn't cut it.

Ken Shamrock, great wrestler, very under rated. Did not get what he should have. He could’ve went a lot further. Always liked ken. He really did give it his all. Being a wrestler I mean. He was a fighter, who legitimately became a pro wrestler. One of my favs. Among many others. Always did, and still do like Ken!
