Kendrick is a WRITER. Drake is a collaborator… That’s the difference.

Just to expand on what I said at 2:57 about him being a rapper and poet - This is not to restrain his talent or to even critique his abilities… it’s just what I perceive him as literally speaking. He’s amazing at what he does, but as I said to me he’s ultimately a poet which is quite literally someone who possess high imaginative skill, high expressive capabilities, and has a special proclivity to the medium - I’d also refer to him as a creative but yeah I didn’t get into allllll that 😂

@@EbonyJBeven though Drake can sing and rap he can't do what Kenny can do different flows subject matter cadences unique ways he can alter his voice. Drake is more of a rapper and Kendrick is more of an artist. Drake has ghost writers, K writes his own

I feel you, this beef has been exhausting and these songs require a lot of mental energy to unpack on top of your every day life (its weird when your indulgence is stressful yet rewarding mentally). i think this is enough drama for me but this song killed my liking for Drake as parasocial as it is.

In light ofnyour opinion at the end it will be interesting to see your reaction to Not Like Us. It's basically Kendrick beating Drake at his own game. It's a hit diss song.

I think you were totally off on your evaluation of Kendrick Lamar ! he is not just a rapper. He’s actually a musical artist who is very inept not only with his lyrics and the substance of his music, but also has a lot of input with you the actual musicians that he uses his sample choices and the production of his music. Drake is more like a artist matter fact he is way more of a one trick pony, then Kendrick Lamar ever was, I think you should evaluate this a little more but we appreciate your reactions

I hear you, Again when saying this, I meant Drake is more of an artist in the ‘commercial’ sense of the word. In the ‘mass marketing’, trying to perform and entertain, sense of the word. I still stand by my reiteration, or re-evaluation in the video where I said afterwards, that Kendrick is more of a ‘poet’ - as this covers all basis of what Kendrick can do really. A poet is someone who has a strong/imaginative gift of expression or someone who possesses impressive power for the language medium. Yes Kendrick is in with the production too, but when I’m comparing the two I’m comparing on how they present themselves to the world in my perspective, to me Kendrick presents himself more as a poet and Drake presents himself as a commercial artist.

As always, you're very thoughtful. Enjoyed your commentary at the end here. It gave me some things to think about. "Meet The Grahams" in tandem with "Not Like Us" sealed the victory for Kendrick imo. With that said, this battle was brutal on the women and children of both men. Alotta wreckage to dig thru after we all, as fans, move on to the next thing.

You said you love Drake because he's a great "artist", do you also love what he sings about? Drake sings about teenage girls who are still in high school. Drake is a weirdo who likes to befriend young girls who are 14 years old and once they turn 18 he sleeps with them. Like father like son 🤮 Kendrick is NOT just a rapper, do not disrespect Kendrick just to turn around and praise Drake. You have no idea how bad of a person Drake is.

I hear you.. but see im coming more from the perspective of what they push to the forefront of their career identities most of the time - not really what they have shown they have the capability of doing. Because of course Kendrick has shown he can hold a note, act, make popular music, but to me what he presents at the forefront of his artistry most of the time is that he is a poet (Writer, as you said, is similar to this) . Drake persistently throughout his career has presented himself as someone who wants to be recognised for more than rapping, e.g R&B and singing and for Pop ect - he quite literally said he wants to be the background music to everyone’s life at different times/events - so to me the forefront of his artistry is that he’s trying to be ‘everything’ simultaneously, all the time

Really good reaction Ebony glad that you touched on Drake’s immaturity and I agree for the last 3 or 4 albums I don’t think he’s grown as an artist he’s still in that kiddish mentality
