It was an especially joyous moment for Scots who were sick of hearing jokes about Scottish goalies to have the English goalkeeper nutmegged at Wembley.Everyone can have an off day though and even Scottish fans respected him as a fine player.

Poor old Ray. He was actually a fine 'keeper - but even the best make mistakes.

John T right. When one read his unbelievable records of the 1978-1979 season. 28 clean sheets. Conceded only 16 goals in 42 matches and only 4 at Anfield. Hats off to this Legend.

@Talorc MacAllan Had his moments though. Back then international football was a much higher standard than Club football. No longer the case today.

@Talorc MacAllan True, but that was the fault of the SFA management, not Kenny's.. Scotland squads hardly ever were allowed time to train together and therefore didn't know what Dalgliesh was doing sometimes, but Celtic, and later Liverpool players DID know, and passed, or recived a pass accordingly, and KD's brilliance was plain to see

He was a great keeper John, and like his rival Peter Shilton, his howlers like this one wre magnified because they were so rare.

Des O'Connor also loved his football and played a few times for Northampton Town reserves just after the war,By his own admission he was pretty fast as a winger,it was just that he sometimes forgot to take the ball with him!!

Was right behind the goal that day. Hampden was rocking after it happened. Clemence was a decent keeper in his day but you have to laugh at the English going on about Scottish Keepers with their proud record of Clemence, Seaman, James, Robinson, Carson, Green, Hart at International Level.

This is typical of what Scotland has to put up with in this union dominated by our bigger and greedy neighbour. Notice the English commentator's remarks are all concentrated on the poor English keeper instead of the magnificent Scottish goal. One fekin day Scotland, one day.

It wasn’t magnificent, it was a goalkeeping error. Not *everything* is about Scottish independence Alex!
