The two dislikes are from Saturnians who expected a saxophone to sound like wind blowing on the planet Saturn.

I remember having a jam session with Kenny and a couple of other friends when he first arrived to nyc from Detroit ..just a little afternoon get together..we all knew from the first few notes and his sound that it would only be a short matter of time before he would be scooped up by someone and become the next sensation on the scene..nice guy and played his ass off..

Man, I've tried this sequence and it is even harder than the original in some ways. It's great to see someone like Kenny putting his Musical Instruction Videos online like this.

The first time I saw Kenny on TV was on BET on Jazz and they did this version but Brian Blade was on drums. I clicked on this hoping it was the same performance I saw all those years ago but there's certainly nothing lacking in this take! Good stuff.

very smart ,the first 2 minutes only a vamp in the first 8 bars, to make a difference sound for the brain, then after he impro over the whole song..the drummer is amazing usually when i watch Giant step cover ,i am more interesting for the solo but at this time the drummer called my attention , as well the bass player

almost, listening to and then actually looking at the notes of the head it makes sense. every note gets one beat. It works out to be two of 7/4 and one 11/4. Or you could break it down two two systems of 4/4 then 3/4 and then 3 bars of 3/4 and then a bar of 2/4. Which is more how I hear it, but maybe thats a little convoluted.

@yahbitchyah777 the exact quote is "if you look out into the audience and there's no women, you're playing the wrong shit". But even the great Miles can be wrong sometimes.

@SaxmanNateEarthsong "it drives me insane that everyone who plays jazz can't just chill out and play a cool melody." EVERYONE who plays jazz? 10 minutes of a 3 hour show being fast kenny garrett solos? You obviously must need to shed more, because you are saying some ridiculous stuff right now. .

Christo Reeds I'm so confused... Everyone has their own preferences, BUT how can this or his outfit be considered bad? I'm so confused.... Are you from a jazz background or a Kenny G one?
