So you could put $10 on every horse and still win?
@oasisnole
2 жыл бұрын
@@kstedry Well you would win w/ that one horse. The odds are that if you bet $2, $5, $10 etc on every horse more than likely each year one of the favorites would win & yes you’d win $$ but you’d lose the other races & the difference would find you negative. I bet 9 horses $10 each plus a couple of other bets. My total bets were $104 & I won $818 so I didn’t clear $818 I cleared $714. For combinations I took some favorites. For straight up $10 win I took long shots including Rich Strike.
@donreed
2 жыл бұрын
@@kstedry In the 2022 KY Derby, yes. You would bet $200 (20 times $10). Your $10 winning ticket would be worth $818, or a profit of $618, plus you get your $200 back --- a return of approximately 3-1 odds. Obviously, you DO NOT want to make a habit out of this, with favorites winning about 30% of all races year in year out never changes. One good thing about hitting the "all" button is that you will get SOMETHING back. If the favorite in this race, Epicenter (4-1) had won, bet $200, get back $51 (lose $149). REMEMBER: The Derby is unique. It is the one day of the year when the big syndicates wagering $25,000 and up on races cannot manipulate the board with their humongous wagers (because tons of money is arriving from all over the world and not much of it is landing on the three horses with the lowest odds)). Which is why Epicenter went off at 4-1. In a normal race with a smaller field, he would have gone off at about 9/5 and if a winner, would pay nowhere near that $51 (above); here, for 85% of all bettors, hitting the win "all" button would be a disaster.

Ugh I hate that word used for these type of horses. An underdog yes. He just drew into the race the day before the derby when they had a scratch. He also has to be eligible for the derby. So it isn’t like any horse just entered the derby. I think he didn’t get the attention he could have gotten because of his late entry. He’s got a fantastic pedigree and had morning workouts on the dirt were impressive. He was claimed making him the only claimed horse to win the derby. The trainer was looking for horses a year ago that had potential and Rich Strikes’ morning workouts caught his eye. That’s what I love about an underdog. It doesn’t have to be the most famous trainer or horse that’s undefeated, but one that potential is not even known yet. You probably meant no disrespect by calling him a nobody, I just don’t like that. Underdog! lol. he’s not so much the underdog anymore. Can’t wait to see what he does in the next 2 (if he is sound and entering.

@@hummakavula3750 I'm sure a lot of people there are still betting on Indy. Just like loads of people at the Super Bowl or basketball games. I'd think the difference in horse racing is that there is no team loyalty. No one at all is cheering for a certain jockey or trainer. I don't gamble so I'm just watching a fun race. But the guy who was streaming on youtube fancied himself a betting handicapper and he was both mute and pissed off at this finish. He probably lost ten thousand dollars or even tens of thousands so he didn't care that it was an amazing finish.
