Kerala Style Sardine Curry | Mathi Mulakittathu
Ingredients
Sardine - 1kg
Garlic - 6 to 7 nos
Ginger - 1nos
Onion - 2 nos
Tomato - 2 nos
Malabar tamarind - 3 to 4 nos
Turmeric powder - 1/2tbsp
Red chilli powder - 1 ½ tbsp.
Fenugreek powder - 1/2tsp
Fenugreek - 1 tsp
Salt - 1or 2 tsp
Oil- 7 to 8 tbsp
Method
Heat oil in a pan and add fenugreek.
Then add chopped ginger and garlic and saute for a few seconds.
Add chopped onions and saute them well.
Now add some chopped green chili and saute them well.
Then add some curry powders, such as turmeric powder and red chili powder and saute them well for a few minutes.
Add soaked Malabar tamarind and water combine them well.
Again, add sufficient amount of water for sardine curry and stir and boil them well.
Once the masala gavy is well boiled, add the cleaned sardine fish and mix it with a spatula.
Then cook for a few minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes on top of the curry and cook well.
If the sardine fish curry is well cooked, add some fenugreek powder.
Then pour some fresh coconut oil on top of the curry.
Stir them well, remove from the fire and set aside.
Serve the tasty sardine fish curry with tapioca or meals.
