They believe it’s a deficiency of Vitamin A in children. I’ve noticed when there are bumps on the back of my arms that Beta Carotene gets rid of them in two days. I do believe it’s insulin, but other things can cause it as well.

Keratosis Pilaris is a deficiency in vitamin B3 (Niacin...FLUSH FREE). The reason why it works with Keto is because B3 is high in meats. I do agree changing your diet to a clean Low Carb/Keto diet will work. But, it's Not the main issue, especially since almost all of our food has been manipulated and is depleted of the nutrients (unless you eat Organic)... Adding a supplement of B3 (aka Niacin) to your everyday vitamins will REMOVE your Keratosis Pilaris completely... That is how I removed mine...It works! *Note: Niacin, when taken gives the body a feeling of a flushing, which causes your body to turn red and raises your heart rate..When I first took it, I thought I was having a heart attack, after 20-30 minutes it goes away...It's a NORMAL side effect). Please do your research and look at All of the symptoms that you will get as a result of taking Niacin. Carnivore has cured my KP. I had the most severe case my dermatologist had ever seen. It was bad - all over my body. I tried expensive and painful peels, lasers, creams, scrubs, and diets. Nothing helped. I haven’t worn t-shirts and shorts in nearly 2 decades because I was so self-conscious. I’ve always hated the summer for that reason. For the first time in my adult life, I’m actually going to wear summer clothes next year. My skin is so soft and flawless. It’s quite remarkable.

I had this as a child, certainly from about age 8. It was on the fronts & backs of my thighs, backs of calves, butt cheeks, backs of upper arms & really red & bumpy. Yet never on any other skin areas. Nobody knew what it was in the 80s & I would be so embarrassed if anyone saw or asked. Age 20 I went into ketoacidosis (a dangerous condition when you don't have enough insulin) & was subsequently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes & started insulin. As my blood sugars improved, the keratosis pilaris on my arms & legs etc. did too. If my blood sugar control worsens it reappears, but not as bad as when I was a child. From my own experience I would assume I never produced enough insulin & so often had elevated blood sugars as a child & that is what had an effect on the keratosis pilaris. So reducing carbs & lowering blood sugars should help. Softening body butters, coconut oil, that sort of thing, do wonders for it too. And I like to think a bit of sunshine so perhaps some Vit D. Great video 👍🏻 & great to see this talked about!

I developed KP in the last couple of years that my A1c crept up. I tried exfoliation and moisturizing to no avail, of course. Once I addressed my diet and cured my diabetes, only then did the exfoliation and moisturizing work. Chicken skin gone. I will say that diabetes cured alone did not affect it, the plugs were still there and associated itchiness and rough skin remained. I restarted the attempts to exfoliate the plugs and insert good moisture-gold bond followed by aquaphor to seal it in for a deep penetration. Worked like a charm.

WOW!! I have been dealing with KP since my teens and I used to be in KP forums, researching the heck out of what to do about it and what the root cause is. I never heard about this before! I have tried all kinds of diets, including low carb, but it has never gotten any better. So I had just given up on finding something that would work. Since I already tried low carb/keto and even carnivore I thought that it didn't work aswell but I probably would have to do it for a longer time. I struggle as heck with fat adaptation though, I get really bad symptoms like insane intracranial pressure, racing heart and chest pain plus severe insomnia so it hasn't been easy to stick to it. I have a serious oxalate problem though so that's probably one of the reasons that I struggle. But this video was really encouraging to see! I am on an animal based diet with about 100 g of carbs still (some honey and fruits bcs of my previously mentioned issues) and I realize that I have seen about 50 percent improvement in my KP so that's a good start!🌞 I will continue to try to get my carbs even lower and it will be interesting to see what will happen over time.😄

Love everything you said except recommending coconut oil for KP. Coconut oil clogs pores which is the opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish when you treat KP. Years ago I used coconut oil on my KP and I have never seen my plugs so clogged. I make it my personal mission to deter people from using this oil on KP and acne prone skin.

Can I tell you my KP story. when I was 27 I got pregnant while taking birth control pills...something about the pregnancy hormones and the pills caused a severe reaction and I developed a massive cystic rash all over my back and arms. when I found out I was pregnant I immediately stopped taking the pill of course...After several weeks the rash on my back faded, but ever since then, I had KP..I have some weird theory that it was some form of liver damage that caused the initial rash. but any how I have since always had KP on my upper arms..it sucks and Is ugly, I am pretty much gluten free. but its still here.

I am studying dietetics and think there might be a link with vitamin A as well. Vitamin A helps with skin cell turnover, thats why derms love retin-a or isotretinoin for a lot of skin conditions. I had KP since I was at least teen or maybe still a child. I had a normal weight and didn't eat much sweets or junk food but many carbs from vegetables, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. bc my mother thought meat, fat and eggs were bad for health and would make fat. And certainly only small portions. So a small pot of boiled had to last for her and for me as a teen for 2 times. I was constantly hungry and every time when I had the possibility and she wasn't at home I bought food like fatty fish, fatty cold meat but also chocolate. Everything with fat. And I had to do it secretly. I wasn't allowed to get something from the fridge without her permission. Much later I found out that my mother is a narcissist.

I remember seeing "chicken skin" lines on my chest when I was just five years old. They disappeared in middle school. That was when I started making breakfast my family. In high school, I was responsible for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast and dinner were both high fat/protein, low carb meals. For me, hell was when my older sister would muster herself to get up earlier than me so we could have oatmeal. Oatmeal for breakfast at 6:00 a.m. meant I was going to be ravenous by 9:00 a.m. and there was nothing I could do about it until lunch at noon. Fortunately, my sister preferred sleep over oatmeal so the episodes were infrequent.

You have to be patient as it will take some time to fill your body of missing nutrients that have been missing all of your life! That way you know what to expect and won't end up calling 911 like I did 😔 There is also a Niacin Flush Free version... It's the one I take, just because I don't like the heart attack feeling 🤣

I do not consume grains regularly, and I definitely do not eat sugar either. I do not have any skin issues now but instead get compliments for my shining tan skin. What pissed me off is that when my sister was at the dermatologist, the doctor told us nothing about nutrition but instead gave her a steroid cream. My sister had this and other issues. The dermatologist said that it's just genetic, but nobody in my family even has this. I'm hoping she can change her diet for the better because as of now she refuses to do so.

I began cutting the BS out of his diet years ago. We don't really eat out save special occasions, nearly all his meals are made of real ingredients and I don't buy bread that uses seed oils, no cereal in the house. Most desert is weekends only and made of as few ingredients as possible BECAUSE I wanted to cut out all the excess sugars and additives and things like vegetable oil. Approximately 50% of adults and 80% of kids globally have KP. I find it highly suspect that everyone who has this issue has it because of hyperinsulinemia. It seems pretty irresponsible for a doctor to be spreading this as fact, and pushing the keto diet, without presenting any actual evidence. Also, I did Keto for a few years, my KP didn’t go away. I have normal A1C and have no issues with insulin. Moisturizing daily made it go away- and it didn’t require slathering my body with beef tallow. And all Keto did was cause me to gain 100 lbs in less than a year after going off of it due to kidney failure.
