Just did my first infusion today. Having experience with psycadelics I went in thinking I was going to journey into my mind and see what I’m doing wrong and get some positive insight into my behavior. That’s not what I experienced really. It’s not really like that. I did get some mild insight but the infusion experience itself isn’t really the therapy. The best part about it is what comes after. The apprehension to do simple tasks is lifted. For me also I feel like my reactions to negative thinking is significantly reduced. I feel more balanced and all the problems in my life are still there but they aren’t a big deal anymore. What a relief. I went in to this suicidal and I just don’t feel suicidal anymore which is amazing to me.

Before I did my first dose of MDMA, I was literally a different person. In college, I experimented with MDMA, did it 20 times a year or so, for about 4 years, and the first experience made me "better". I remember being very conscious of it. I became better in tune with my feelings for lack of a better term and the effects were permanent. I remember thinking back then that these kinds of "mind expanding" drugs, were gonna one day be used for their therapeutic purposes and as I listen to people talk about their therapeutic ketamine experiences, It makes perfect sense. MDMA is being used exactly like we are using ketamine in Israel and the outcomes are just as good. If I had to explain it Id say, the experience makes your mind use neural pathways that were either never used before, or haven't been used in a long time and then it kinda remembers they exist forever and then it just becomes they way you are. Ive felt similar during the after glow of a magic mushroom experience. Im glad you got some relief.

I had my first treatment today. My experience was nearly identical to how you describe yours. One concern I had was the ketamine bringing up uncomfortable psychological insights that would trigger anxiety (similar to a bad psilocybin trip). Thankfully, it was the opposite-- I felt a quieting of the mind. The nurse did say that I "came to" quicker than most people. I was a little dizzy but able to walk to my ride outside after a couple of minutes.

Hi, Bret.... thank you so much for your incredibly articulate description. I just completed my second ketamine treatment today... with the aim being the alleviation of intense, intractable nerve pain that we have not yet been able to effectively treat any other way. Your description matched my experience so fully that I am a bit stunned. Like you, I experienced the heaviness (especially of my lips, mouth and face).... I also experienced the concerns about "forgetting" how to breath at some point... but managed to reassure myself that I was safely hooked up to monitors and the attending nurse would not permit me to cease breathing without intervening. Your descriptions of both the "mood" and visuals... the "gravitas" and lack of more frivolous, vivid, representational tone and visuals were where I was, too. I really appreciated your thorough and clear description. One difference I noted was that the relatively uncomfortable physical set up I was in left me with a sense of vulnerability (to a fall, actually) that I think might have been soothed substantially with a more "stable feeling" seat. I literally would have liked a seat belt! Or at least, more of an "armchair." Additionally, a more complete verbal preparation would have normalized things a bit, too, and been a bit of a talisman when things felt unnerving . Finally, my "respiratory angst" was ramped up by actual sinus draining that commenced with the medication... which left me unclear whether I was, indeed, choking or only experiencing my mind's overload of the moment. In any case, I left wanting to give the providers some feedback on the experience both so that any future treatment I have to have and also, the treatment of any other patients might be optimally supported psychologically. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I only wish i had watched prior to the session. All the best to you in your own healing journey!

I had my 6th infusion today. It really went no different than any of the last ones I updated about. There Wes one BIG difference that I didn't expect and it wasn't until after the session was over and I was booking my 1st appointment for what are now to be once each month. I was told in the very beginning that the 1st 6 sessions were not covered by insurance and I would have to pay out of pocket for those. But after the insurance would then pay all or most of the cost after that. Well, today I was told that all future sessions would be at a cost of $450 per session and the clinic ran "basically" ,(whatever that means) ran on a "cash only basis" so she would "try" to get the insurance to pay. I let her know that this was not acceptable and if they wanted me to return they would have to make some adjustments to fees. I've had no information further, I was told I would be contacted prior to my next appointment. So no matter where you go make sure you have a very detailed conversation about not only current but future fees. Starting on Monday I'll be contacting every Clinic I can find in Los Angeles and find a better fee. Also found out that if you discontinue the program and choose to start again later you get to start and pay for the first 6 sessions all over again But the good news is that until I found that out. All of my suicidal ideation thoughts have been gone. But the program may only be for the super rich. So please research the financial aspects as well. Before you begin the sessions, I thought I had but turns out they are less than forthcoming about their practice. I hope my posts have helped someone. If so please let me know. Thanks, Brian

I'm so sorry you were given the wrong information. I suspected it wouldnt be covered in America-they wouldn't go so quickly from a scorned "club kid" street drug to respected treatment for depression that quickly.. The places I've contacted in the NY area schedule a bunch of rapid treatments-like 2 or 3 a week for two or three weeks then you do maintenace afterwards every month or longer if you don't need it. It doesn't seem like in other parts of the country that there are so many procedures the first weeks. How often did you go? My depression and anxiety has really affected my life since a divorce a few years ago. It's very hard to do anything or feel any excitment or happiness anymore. I want to give the ketamine a shot-it's very expensive but if it works then it will be very worth it to get my life back. I'm trying to find a place near me in NJ. I read you need someone to drive you home so I need to find a place not to far away.

Hopefully you've worked something out and have been able to continue your treatments if you still need them. As I understand it, since Ketamine is not FDA approved for the treatment of depression, it is being used "off-label" for these treatments. This is totally legal, it is an FDA approved drug (anesthetic) and a Dr. can prescribe approved drugs for off-label use. But it is totally up to your insurance company whether or not they will cover a prescription drug being prescribed off-label, and most of them will not. So, it is really up to your insurance company whether or not the drug will be covered, since it is being used off-label. Some companies apparently do cover it. The drug itself is dirt cheap, it's been off-patent for years so anyone can make it (which is why no one will spend the billions it would take for the studies to get it FDA approved for the treatment of depression) but the cost of facilities, staff, liability insurance, etc. etc. is what drives the cost up to typically around $300-$500 per infusion.

I had my 2nd appointment for my Ketamine therapy today. It went very much like the 1st. Very relaxing very comfortable. I didn't get any if the hallucinating effects but I did get very high like he said like being on gas at the dentist office. Nitrous oxide. Again about the 30 min point I again got very talkative for some reason. They had very soft piano music playing in the background. This time I have more money of what I said then I did last time. I was telling her about the time I studied at the conservatory if music at UMKC. I also felt that while talking my toung felt thick. I've done LSD and this is nothing like that at all, damnit! I've been home for a few hours now and feel very good. Again a slight headache. But I'll chase it away with some Excedrin. All for now, I have my next appointment on Wednesday. I'll update again after. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone! Thanks, Brian

thx God I might be able use medical insurance because I am on my last 5 sessions of TMS & feel better but still exhausted & had 2 drop out of classes 3 days ago from feeling frozen, cannot move, migraines & nausea not as bad (before it was wake till sleep, now a few hrs a day but at least now excedrin helps a little) but the anxiety better but my head still feels like a vacuum is pulling my scalp & forehead up. Sleep is a tiny bit better some days. It’s hard 2 wear my eyeglasses even tho I need them 2 see. My car & room is still messy (not like a tornado but still horrible for a neat, ocd, & clean freak). Hard to focus & get things done at work. Working out is my fave thing in the world & can work out 4 hrs, but I stopped altogether. I just started going back 2 gym but it’s a struggle. Organizing online classes /calendar/?lessons are a disaster along w/my ADHD. I feel like crying but I keep it in as much as I can because I feel like it’s my fault that I went from an A student 2 dropping classes to C’s & F last semester; was close 2 end of my pre-requisites for nursing program & now I feel so lost & ashamed. Not to mention I am peri menopausal which also comes with depression & anxiety. People tell me it’s just a part of life deal with it. But it hurts 2 hear when it was they have no idea how it feels to have no control, brain never stops, & memory is a mess, everything is going down the drain you’ve worked hard for & the MD’s have no idea how to help me. Mostly 2 prescribe drugs on top of drugs which I am sensitive 2 & which makes me feel so crazed plus all the side effects makes me feel so much worse. TMS is covered by my Insurance & I pray that the Ketamine is as well. I want a life that I can get things done, have interests, have drive again so I can help out my family & others when I finish school. I want 2 spend time with family again instead of feeling isolated. I miss cleaning & organizing daily because it relaxes me & then I can get in the mood 2 study. So Ketamine sounds like the best route. Thank you everyone 4 speaking on this subject because I feel so alone in this process.

I’ve been getting ketamine infusions for just over a year it is finally starting to help with my pain I have chronic regional pain syndrome and thoracic outlet syndrome! I get these infusions every three weeks along with Physical Therapy and taking low-dose naltrexone! It’s helped me with my mind a lot!… But it’s taken so long of upping the dose and because I’ve been in pain for about 17 years now I have a lot of pain to work through and get my body back to normal! But what I was trying to say was, is that I experienced my first K whole experience not this past infusion but the last one because we upped it by 25 mg when I had been on 250 mg for quite a while! I can relate to so much of what you are saying I’m sitting here nodding and agreeing with you!… I’ve been trying to catalog my “adventures“… When I first started looking up videos about it I had not seen yours yet. Everything goes so much better if you have a playlist with songs that you recognize to ground you and also sleeping with a very dark weighted Eye mask. It helps keep things neutral and slows down some of The hallucinations!… I always have the thing with my breath too it’s just a thing that you have to pass over but my husband always reminds me yes you are breathing it’s normal your heart rate is normal having him in the room is so helpful and then the doctor comes in and freeenforces the fact that I am safe I’m OK everything I’m feeling is normal!

Yes once you feel safe…👌🏻 the sinking into the chair! Then you can detach. Oh my infusions go for 3 1/2 to 4 hours I started with a 10 day protocol where they started you at 50 mg and then upped it to 25 mg each time and I got all the way up to 275 mg at the end of the 10 dayperiod And then I was coming back once a week and eventually once every two weeks and now I’m at every three weeks! You are describing this so on point. ...lol unicorn assholes. Every single time I go the experience is very different the images are different! And the music really helps with that it helps everything just go with the flow. Yep Yep… No boundaries that’s exactly how it feels. Yeah my mouth feels frozen, and then I am very aware of whether my mouth is open or closed and I try to keep it close because I keep finding my mouth always hangs open LOL… I always keep a lollipop in my hand because my mouth goes dry and that helps!! I’m curious what is the dosage that you were on? For your first one? They always give me Zofran for nausea and in case I get panicky they alwalways administer versed sp?? I never eat before my infusions ever! I stop eating the night before and I stop drinking depending on what time my appointment is the next day! Because the fluids fill you up and make you have to pee a lot. The mental clarity that I have gotten over the past year has been absolutely amazing it didn’t happen overnight for me but after the first three during my first try at a Proto call I felt amazing clarity and my pain was reduced by a lot but I had initially got sent home after the first three days because my blood pressure went up so high so we just learned that I don’t have any underlying heart problems I just need to take blood pressure medication to hours prior to my infusions! And that works perfectly! I can’t wait to check out your other videos in see how you are faring!

Man, you really have eased my anxiety on my appointment with what they call Spravato (Esketamine) something my Psychiatrist suggest I give a try after many years of trying different meds and only a few working. She thinks its going to be perfect for me. I've also read up on some of the crazy shit you mentioned having read up on before your dosage. I should add this is administered through a nasal spray equal to the equivalent of what I've read is 86 milligrams over a couple doses in a controlled environment. I don't expect to get to the point of a k hole and have witnessed someone in person during what they call a k hole and she looked like she didn't want to move and just sat still on her couch. In other words I don't want to experience a k hole. I have had experience with psychedelics in my early 20's and some mid 20's so I've literally seen some shit good and bad on my adventures. Finally, how are you now? How were your follow up sessions? I looked through your video page and couldn't even find this one somehow.

Update on my Ketamine therapy. I've been going once each month now. I'm still having excellent results. I've dropped from 8 pills to 2 I'm on Cymbalta and Lithium for the Bi-Polar Disorder and the Depression Disorder. I'm doing very well on those and the Ketamine has taken away all of the Suicidal Ideation that I had every day. I have also had a discussion with the Dr. about the continued frequency of the sessions. He told me that he had patients that came in every month others that come in every other month and some only every 3 or even 6 months. Depending on your personal situation. So if you're starting you may want to remember to as your Dr. about the frequency you'll require for your own personal situation. Wishing everyone the best! Brian

Hi! I'm currently undergoing ECT treatments for depression and they are slightly working, yet there's still that deep sense of fear, emotional pain and I have absolutely no motivation to even the most simple of tasks. I have been considering ketamine infusion therapy for awhile, and I think I want to try it. I just have a few questions, like does it help give you more motivation? Like, this seems disgusting but I haven't showered in forever because I just don't want to/absolutely *no* motivation. Does it help lift your baseline mood after a period of time? My baseline is consistently rock bottom; heavy depression, that unbeatable urge to cry, etcetera. Does it help bring back ambitions? I dropped out of med school because, after the death of my girlfriend, I just couldn't do it. Do other people see a difference in you? If you could help me with these questions I would really, really appreciate it

Been on 3200mg of Gabapentin past couple years. Tolerance issues the whole way. Afraid the Ketamine with be same. Went to Psyc Dr. a month ago said it was't approved yet. Going this coming Fri. hoping. Another thing, don't want to get addicted! Seems like it would be that by time you go back for another dose, the previous one would be "waning" (tolerance). In other words, is it better the first week or two vrs the week just before the next dose? I have kind of complicated problems, which is shameful feelings my whole life, so it's not primarily depression. I suppose in any case, this medication could be a mood enhancer. That's what I'm hoping for.

I have now had 6 treatments and because I am 64 years old with a long history of anti-depressants and depression, it is going to take more treatments to get relief. I did have four better days after my fifth treatment but I didn’t feel anything before that as far as improvement. My insurance company, Premera Blue Cross is covering 80% of the six visits so far but I when I go on Medicare next month it will be a battle. They do not cover it which is odd since it is FDA approved for treatment resistant depression. Since I am going to need more treatments I will be calling them today to find out how to appeal.

I can’t even describe what I saw in my mind. It seemed like a million images, colors, shapes. Sometimes things seemed to have structure and I would fly along. Something’s reminded me of the movie Tron. There was light, and there was dark. I had good and bad feelings. There were times when I thought I was going to be trapped in this place with no body. I questioned whether reality that I knew was real or not. As far as nausea I actually do have a donut before I go. Empty stomach is what made me sick. Yes that did happen to me. After my 2nd or 3rd my suicidal thoughts were absolutely gone. I couldn’t even force myself to think about it. I’ve waited too long without maintenance doses and need to go back again though.

I had it in the ER for sever pain after nothing help for pain (morphine, fentanyl). They didn’t tell me what it was, just gave it to me. Just an FYI, is scared the living hell out of me! All the equipment on the walls became detached and were floating around the room.my only thoughts for the entire time was, “so this is how I am going to die!” But I didn’t necessarily care because there was nothin I could do about it. In the end it didn’t stop the pain at all and I was so pissed off that they didn’t tell me what was about to happen to me, I just left.

Well, we are actually formless. What form does the *self* have? And we are indeed floating in an ocean of universal self, without definite boundaries. I experienced these things once or twice during meditation, and again while singing mantras, without the help of ketamine. I'm not sure why this should help with depression, though; depression (unless it is neurologically based) is the feeling of meaninglessness that goes with lack of accomplishments. No amount of experiencing the universal consciousness, however good that is, is going to make up for lack of accomplishments. These two things are orthogonal.

I had to have clearance from my Cardiologist prior to having my infusions because of high blood pressure and he's so cool that he knew exactly about Ketamine being used for depression. I've have 9 infusions in 9 weeks because we drive 6 hours to San Antonio and unfortunately that's the best I could do to get there. My mood began to shift after the first infusion!! I actually have a 5mg dose of hydralazine to reduce my blood pressure before the infusion is started and don't have any complications or side effects.

This video is amazingly in-depth and beautifully articulate. I'm a chronic pain patient who has struggled with TR-depression from age 7 (now 29). I pray I can afford this treatment some day soon, and that they find a way to keep the positive effects from dissapating (I know there's something like that called Ketace used in animals when they stop responding to the ketamine?). Anyway, thank you for this, and hope with all my heart you are still feeling well today ❤

I've tried at least 5 so called anti depressants over the last 15 years after suffering what no one should love through: a 100 plus mph combined speed head on collusion, broken neck, ruptured internal organs, a massive shoulder restraint injury, a collostomy, in other words I died. SERIOUSLY. And each day thereafter I am less and less interested in even getting up, or enjoy anything. My PTSD is killing me, seriously, as surely as I was when I was bleeding to death with seconds left to live in the ER that day. I relieve that day endlessly over and over...I honestly wish I had died that day, I had no idea if I would wake up let alone be able to ever move the day of mind shattering physical force, it was beyond imagination, only to wake up in living hell with chronic pain both physical, financial, and physical, and mental. I watched my twin brother dying in front of me, and it would have been far better if her had stayed that way, he was horribly brain damaged and he never did come back to the person he was before, not he's a very difficult person to even talk to..and his brain was damaged in the amyligdalia, the fight or fight switching center...he's stuck in the fight mode when ever I talk with him. I lost everything that day. Including my trust in the legal system. I had to disbar my attorney, sent him to jail for aggravated theft in the 1st degree, snd sued his State BAR association fo this legal malpractice insurance, I won all three law actions against the three other parties, and am torchered by all of my traumatic injures daily.. to date I have had 28 anesthestic surgical procedures, and I have need for more, four or five more...I'm so burned out from living, I need this treatment badly for both my all of my traumas and the depression , I fear my medicare insurance will say no...I don't hav

@hollyfabiani

Lesa Pierce , I have tried two so far. I'm going to continue to go. It's hard to describe, so before going in, I purchased a spire stone. It graphs my tense moments through out the day. Before the treatment, which recorded me tense at 2 straight minutes and forward from there, had me tense for about 200 minutes through out the day. The most I've had now is ten minutes, after two treatments. The anxiety is there, but not the chest tightening and accompanying feelings. The depression is there, but not the longevity or weight. So, the mental part is there, but zero physical is being recorded to date. So, now I just have to learn how to live without the physical symptoms. It's pretty unreal when you have to talk your body out of being tense. It's immediately gone. Previous to ketamine, years of therapy and training my brain has worked, but I could never relieve myself of the physical. Which was the worst part for me. The part that drove me to a cocktail to make it stop, or a xanax. Or to a long bath. So, I'd say he'll yes, it works. However, I'm worried about the longevity. It was 3k for this. And an additional $500 per infusion after. At this point, to relieve the physical symptoms, what wouldn't I pay? So, I would recommend getting a spire stone and tracking your own progress. That way, you know exactly what it's doing physically, as your mind may sat you're stressed, but your body is not perceiving it that way.

Friend, your testimony was very sincere. But I would like to know how were the other infusions and if you saw an sustainable progress in your problem with depression. I mean... It's very important for me, friend... I'm from Brazil and we have little information about the months after the 6 infusions. I don't know if people get better and forget give some feedback about their progress... I mean... I'm hopeless, and that treatment seems to offer some relief and hope to continue... I'm 37 and suffer from depression and anxiety since my childhood. I was very strong until start treatment with antidepressants. (Recently I did a pharmacogenetic test, unfortunately my metabolism doesn't work for almost nothing, and I've tried almost everything: SSRI, tricyclics etc.) Please, if you can tell me something, I thank you some much

I would strongly reccommend you source your own ketamine (internet perhaps) and try doses of around 50mg. I'll give you a spoiler, the therapeutic value of ketamine is probably due to the ego dissolving effect it has and the subsequent increased neuroplasicity of the brain. In short it enables people to reframe the story of their life and that things may not be as bad as what they thought. Ketamine itself though, like any drug, is not the long term answer. The long term solution is to intergrate the experience into every day life and live a healthy lifestyle/give up drugs/smoking/meditate regularly/exercise etc. I was a goner 18 months ago. Addicted to legal and illegal drugs. A khole changed my life and 18 months on, whilst not "back to normal" am living a far better life than I did before. And ironically i realise we don't need all this chemical crap to live life. Ketamine (or any psychedelic experience) can do this, just make sure you do your homework.

Probably not but i wouldn't mix them. I've never had psychosis after ketamine but did after eating an edible after kholing. My guess is that the confusion and paranoia that cannabis induces could react badly with the ketamine.
