I never for one second believed Kevin Fieges movie was actually happening and I don’t know why anyone was expecting it to. People forget that not only does Kevin Fiege run the MCU (which has probably like 20-25 projects in various stages of development rn) but he also is the CEO of Marvel. Meaning he runs all of marvel, including: comics, video games, animation etc. There is no way he has enough time to focus seriously on a star wars movie. Plus with the state that the MCU is in rn, he needs to be focused on fixing that first.

A quick reminder that Star Wars isn't just the movies, her decisions have generated billions in losses. They never discuss this topic, despite frequently discussing toys and parks: the impact of poor brand management on not just the box office, but everything surrounding those franchises. Toy and collectible sales for Star Wars took a huge hit, absolutely massive. And obviously the Star Wars hotel is an unimaginable failure. It's all well and good to say "oh it's okay, this movie broke even" or "it made money", but when it comes to Star Wars, money goes WAY beyond the box office, that's just a fraction of what the financial goals are. And when you make super divisive stuff like TLJ and the piece of trash that came after, or a show like Boba Fett, you affect everything, on top of having a huge downward trend in your box office. "They all made more than a billion so mission accomplished, well done KK"... Nope, not quite.

I fully disagree with Kris. Ok, she's the greatest producer Steven Spielberg ever worked with. Or that George Lucas picked her. So what? What is this nepotism? Results speak for themselves. So many directors, so many creatives announced, excited to work on Star Wars, including KEVIN FUCKING FEIGE, and still not able to make something decent out of it? What exactly are you doing there? We been hearing for years "greatest producer", but exactly she produced that makes Star Wars good? Absolutely nothing. Which would be a dumb reason to scrap it. You’d think Top Gun Maverick would have shown Lucasfilm that there’s a mass appeal for a fighter pilot movie, given TGM’s massive box office intake, and they would have wanted to hop on that train… Rogue Squadron sounded awesome to me. I would have loved to get a closer look at the world of fighter pilots in the Star Wars universe. Honestly, the plot could be the EXACT same as Top Gun, but set in the Star Wars universe, and I’d still go see it. It could have been a great chance to bring back Wedge Antilles and Poe Dameron as instructors/leaders and introduce a cast of new fighter pilots too.

Putting aside that at last check TG:M had no actual major awards and has no real chance at Best Picture that's the Academy filling slots and trying to get ratings, it makes perfect sense. As is - Star Wars's house is in mostly disarray, particularly on movies. Patty Jenkins schedule flip flopped a couple times, and WW84 - where she was given full control, was a pretty well unmitigated disaster (with her attached to Rogue Squadron before that). It's been started and stopped due to that scheduling. And it was said to take place post Rise of Skywalker, which did not really help it cause at this point that time period is just a turn off for some because of the wreck of the last 2 films in it. And aside from some criticism for Maverick copying Star Wars a bit, better to maybe have a bit of a gap to avoid it look like trying to copy that. Even if Top Gun: Maverick didn't exist, the existence of Top Gun in the first place is enough to have people go 'Star Wars Top Gun? Shut up and take my money', and it waiting a couple years for someone else to take over, and get it made, isn't going to hurt it cause unless the brand damage is that bad, or it truly looks terrible, you show a trailer of almost non-stop Star Wars fighters engaged in combat like it's Top Gun or any of the other war films with aerial combat - you'll likely sell a lot of tickets.

Because right now they are giving away IP project like old DC used to. They desperately need someone to map out the next 10 years of Star Wars because what's happening with Lucasfilm is super unprofessional and destructive. Edit: Get a new CEO and create a creative room with let's say Tony Gilroy, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. Just a basic idea. But Lucasfilm is crying for a change.

If KK was working for Warner Brothers, she would have been fired several times. I can't believe she could stay on Star Wars, while producing Star Wars movies that actually lost money.

Simple answer is they just don't have anyone they can hire that can be a yes man/woman like KK. KK just nods and follows everything Disney tells her.

The reason why she doesn't do movies is because of the hatred that comes along with it. And I'm willing to bet everything that Kevin Feige turned it down. If you make a star wars movie now it can destroy your whole career.

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas were getting more than coffee served by Kathleen and if they don't want that getting out then they will continue to say she's great. Allegedly. Two not so good looking powerful super nerds... they never had a chance.

The Taika Waititi movie should be about Palpatine and Darth Vader but in the spirit of JoJo Rabbit

The prequels were also successful bruh and they still were 'Star Wars'. And they were from the creator!

@@plisskenetic just because something makes money doesn’t mean it’s good. I for one like the prequels cus it’s my generation but I also acknowledge that they’re objectively bad and don’t compare to the first 3.

I think part of the issue with why Kathleen Kennedy gets far more heat than George Lucas is that we're now two decades out from the prequel films and that a lot of people criticizing Kathleen Kennedy grew up with the prequel films and actually like them. Nostalgia is a thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing plays out with the sequel films in two decades, where people who were adults when they released still think they are terrible but people who saw them as kids like them.

I would much rather have a studio take breaks for several years to come up with some great projects and build demand from their audience, instead of putting out an overwhelming amount of content, like what is currently coming from the superhero genre. Really glad Star Wars is taking their time and hope that whatever they’re cooking up is absolutely amazing.

Taika Waititi also directed both Eagle vs. Shark and Boy way back at the beginning of his career. How do you feel about those, sir?

Kathleen Kennedy running Lucasfilm is similar to how the Glazers run Manchester Utd. If we get the Glazers gone and KK out of Star Wars in one year my god I'd be happy.

Considering Jenkins recent track record nothing of value was lost, and feige not so much promise considering how the MCU quality wise is now. Campea said it himself Kennedy was not a real fan of Star Wars why is he backtracking?

Terrible take. He never brings up how she implemented her femine political views on Stars Wars that drove fans away. Her mistreatment of Luke's character or the force is feminine, among others. Terrible stewardship of the franchise

I actually think waiting a long time to release another Star Wars movie is a good thing. The canceled stuff isn't, and it's getting ridiculous, but Star Wars movies should he an event. When they were releasing a movie twice a year, no one cared about solo.

Kathleen is one of the greatest producers of all time. With that being said she sucks at making Star Wars movies that’s the problem. The fact we don’t have a Star Wars movie since 2019 is a problem a biggg problem. The reason we love Star Wars again is because of Jon and Dave 💯
