Kevin Smith is so fucking smart. He talks like he's an idiot about himself sometimes, but man is he insightful and clever.

The thing I do continue to love about Kevin Smith is that, for all his occasional bluster and hyperbole, he is at heart a very simple and humble man with a big heart and who enjoys doing what he is best at, even while recognising that no, he isn't a master craftsman or practitioner of his chosen art, but that doesn't make his work any less valid or vital to the history of cinema.

I started my Kevin Smith journey when I was 19 years old with Chasing Amy. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to his work by my boss and best friend. I'm 40 now and absolutely love Kev's work, especially his Q & A specials! He is, without a doubt, my favorite storyteller!

I first started interreacting with Kev during the MoviePoopShoot days, when I was in high school. My interaction with Kevin, and that para social relationship that was formed, has completely changed how I look at, and want to engage with, artists. Kevin pioneered the current model of being a patron of an artist, which he does not get enough credit for, He has helped make people more aware of the person, that is the artist, and what their art is, and means, on a much more profound level.

I feel like Kevin is capable of good drama, of Pathos, but he doesn’t believe it. That’s why there’s so much goofiness in the jokes, that’s why the profanity is so constant. Just make “ Hit Somebody “ already. And have the balls to make it sincere.

I think Metropolis is the name? Anyone know if he has seen the movie? And what he thought of it?? Thank you for reading my convoluted comment and for any info/info you could provide please!!! 🤔😇🤗😎😁

He is a proto-content creator. But not for the reasons you mention. In the late 90s and early aughts he cultivated an internet presence and had a pretty active message board community on his viewaskew website. He pretty much sustained a Hollywood career by his craftiness and tenacity. And now he exist outside of the system but that’s actually a good place to be these day with the state of the Hollywood business model. Everything is leaning toward big personalities and being an influencer who have followers vs. needing the pr Hollywood machines and distribution deals with theaters to become a big star. He says as much in this interview. He started in the 90s Arthouse independent scene where it was all about being an artist / auteur director. He attempted to be that guy but turns out he is more of an entertainer and influencer than artist. His career has sustained not so much for the quality of his movies but his likability and his fans really having a personal attachment to him the person- which is so clear in all those college tour videos

You know, Kevin Smith has a right to apologize or not. That choice is up to him. As far as I am concerned, seeing the reviews Clownfish tv gave about He - Man, they did not help the show at all. However I enjoyed it. You can’t demand somebody to apologize or force them to apologize. Sure it would be nice, but that’s sort of against free will.

People are often times encouraged by their freedom of speech, yet when given the chance to do something they often times choke. It's in our nature to target and attack, however it always changes when we are on the receiving end of this weapon we wield called arrogance. Everyone makes mistakes because we are all human, judge others as you will; some you will find justification and some not but we are all as men incapable of truly judging one another without being ignorant in some way shape and form. You can be spiteful and resentful or you can much like other creators who keep moving on day by day and take it a step at a time progressing whereas others remain stagnant and complain

I used to love Kevin but when Scott Mosier moved on he went into a career ending downhill spiral. His movies and pods got worse and worse. He started putting his bad actor of a daughter in everything to try and give her an acting career. He had the heart attack and just rambled on about that for years. He even forgot about his friends Bryan and Walt who had been with him through all of it. He is a has been with nothing meaningful to say anymore. He should just fade into the darkness and retire.
