This is hands down one of my all-time FAVORITE board games ever!!!! I wish this game would be reproduced in different versions (like how “Monopoly” and “Clue” had different versions)

I was so young when I had this, I used to just make up stories and.move the minis around in dungeons and stuff, and pretend the monsters and items did stuff lol... I was probably your son's age... that's why this game was so great, it was colorful fun fantasy violence, my imagination went wild... is it a competative game for adults? maybe not... is it a great game for kids? The best

3:44 He may have recommended "Rock,Paper,Scissors" but in our house it was often a case of a full on brawl with the last person standing getting it! They say computer games make kids violent but in our house most board games ended up with all of us sent to our rooms with no treats for a week,lol.

Had this as a kid, lost it, but found it at Goodwill a couple years ago. I think it really holds up well for a kid's game. Simple to play, but not very forgiving.

Thank you for the very good retrospective of my game. It was indeed just a kids game and not for serious gamers, which serious gamers just don't get for some reason! Happy playing! Paul Bennett

Hi, yes it really is me. Some guys from NY tried to get KTTK re-released as a computer game by crowdfunding a few years back and it failed. I have also shown the original game to a few top end manufacturers and whilst they showed initial interest, it came nothing eventually. Alas it makes the idea of KTTK 2 an impossibility as it was a very much more complex board than the original that would have cost an arm and a leg to manufacture.

@@pauldraw2 Paul, I've just turned 40 and have never played the game (want to buy it though) something that looks amazing still after all these years, but a game I would have absolutely loved as a kid. I would love to see your ideas or sketches for KTTK 2, would there be any possibility of that? Cheers from Australia :D

Dan Wood (kookytech.net) Thanks Dan! It's a great game; I could spend hours staring at the box art alone.... Not sure whether that's worrying or not.

Hey I remember this game. I used to love playing it as a kid. I just thought all the art was really cool and it was neat how the board would fold outward and there would be new places to explore.

+notyoursavior78 Super cool isn't it?! The art work just took my mind to a mythical place every time. I could just stare at the box, possibly for days, without food

I like how they downplay the title in german too: "Key to the Kingdom"? No, "Tarralans Dreamland" - "Tarralans Traumland". No Demon King. No Key. No Kingdom. Sigh.

You say Bennett wasn't inspired by the 'instruction manual in the corner' that was basically the beginning of tabletop RPGs. As of today...not sure if that can be described as 'uninspiring' without shining more light on the "uninspired" than the "product" itself. That said, I love both games. Just not sure of your comparison. In some ways both Gygax and Bennett pushed tabletop gaming to what it is today. I'm not sure why you would put them at odds in your video.

One question... what's to stop players from just camping the exit and waiting to ambush other players trying to leave the kingdom? Me and a buddy just realized it, that is sort of a game-breaking loophole.
@Nostalgianerd
8 жыл бұрын
I mean, you could, but would it be fun to play for the person waiting around near the entrance, and even then, there's no guarantee that would lead to a win.
@Egobyte83

I know right? I love this game and want to be able to play it as it should be played, but this loophole still bothers me and my buddy is a real snarky hardcore player who exploits any opportunities presented to him (thats kind of how he discovered it) and he would definitely abuse such a flaw; I wouldn't put it past him. So what I need is some kind of added rule that prevents people from doing that, maybe a homemade rule that forces the players to move around or something... you got any creative tips? ^^
@Nostalgianerd
8 жыл бұрын
Wellllll, it's kind of got it's own rule for that thinking about it. If a player goes into a whirlpool, then any player left on the board is thrown off and reappears on the other side. So that'll probably do it for this particular game, I would have thought.
@everythingpony

you have 3 turns to escape ? its in the rules
@Egobyte83
8 жыл бұрын
Yes, and then what? Its just the same scenario all over again. Camping player jumps into the whirlpool, guy with key escapes, guy with key wants to go to the finish though, and camping player knows that.... so every time guy with key heads for the finish line, camping player will just open the board again. Stalemate.
