Mike Downes Khan Academy comes in for some criticism in England from some parts of the education establishment I think in part due to a complete misunderstanding of what Khan Academy offers. This video should clear up the doubts and misinformation. Great share Mike.

Kevin McLaughlin Once again, where do we start? KZitem is blocked and criticised, gmail is blocked, so I heard was google apps (at my local Uni). A few years back my main (blogger) blog was blocked inside Warks Police HQ and blocked for a time in Warks County Council. So, terrible to say, but the name Khan, just don't roll off the tongue for Brits like _Kip McGrath_ or a fictitious _Windsor Academy_ (I just made up..) For schools to accept Khan and the flip classroom, they need to see teachers as heroes who accept videos as a way to learn -- and not get teachers reinventing the wheel each term.. Look at each new term -- each class arrives with bare walls -- when they should arrive looking at walls of what went before.. ''this is what the last few years of Year 5 did in this very room -- your job learn from them and go the extra nose ahead..'' -- that way everyone becomes smarter.. :)

Mike Downes Absolutely love that approach of a class filled with displays of the learning from the year before. Yes, there is a culture in the UK that views KZitem/G'Apps/Khan Academy and others with disdain and mistrust. There are very few teachers in schools prepared to innovate, and I don't just mean use some of the aforementioned tools on an occasional basis. There are even fewer Head Teachers with the nerve and clarity of vision to allow teachers to innovate in this way.
