Thanks, Karl. It's not everyone's cup-of-tea but it certainly attracts the ctowds. I can't believe how much the place has changed in recent years.

Yep, stayed around there back in the 90's. Probably too many farang there for me now, though I acknowledge it goes with the territory. Good to see the locals starting to frequent the area.

I reckon the locals are starting to outnumber the tourists, especially in the evenings

I first went to Khao San road over 20 years ago, it was different in those days for sure, I lived in Chiang Mai for 16 years and that changed so much over the years, still lovely though, great video bro, interesting to see, I haven't been there for 8 years now but hope to get back soon.

It must have changed an awful lot since you visit. I'm glad you liked it, buddy. It's always cool to see how a place is doing after being away for a while. It's like taking a trip down memory lane.

This was where I ended up when I first came to Bangkok in 96. Unfortunately I didn't make it to Khao San Rd in December but I can see what you mean about the removing of the signs, it does take away from the character. If I was to do anything it would be to remove all the cables first. Next time we visit we will be spending more time in the old town area. Hopefully it improves with more locals coming.

It was my first place I visited in Thailand too. I'm going to miss all those signs. I really thought they added that bit of Asia when you first walk down the street. You're so right about the cables: I believe they have plans to put all the cables underground at some point. Thanks for your comment.

@@baldybrian As an Aussie 25 year old first time in Asia being dumped in the Khao San Rd area at 11 o'clock at night was an experience. I wish I could have those days back but that's the point you can't. Keep up the good work Brian.

I first went in 2009 (peak season) i loved its chaotic feel and slight scruffyness in parts..went again in 17 and its previous charm was in decline in almost everyway Im glad its recovered somewhat from covid and ready for new generations if not really what it once was
