The apartheid system and its separation of African families has a lot to answer for still. People who ask why do you still talk about the effects of apartheid, need to watch Khumbul'ekhaya.

You can tell that Lefu is an intelligent man, his reasoning and by the way he speaks, i really wish him nothing but the best, a lot was stolen from this young man, given the opportunity he was going to be something great and honestly he still can be.

I feel so much for people in this position, searching for parents that have disappeared or never played a role in their lives, but I have to say how remarkable it is the lies people accept when they are desperate. Father number two looks like he is lying through his teeth to his son. It sounds like the mother fled because of domestic abuse, 'she looked like she had been in a fight when she left' they said. Meaning she was beaten up. She left him with the best care she could, her friend's family and probably fled for her life. She didn't drop him down a pit latrine or leave him under a bush somewhere or on a rubbish tip like some abandoned babies. The adopted grandmother probably said you could have died because abusive men kill their wives/girlfriends and their children all the time, and the father was an abusive man.The Xabas taking him in and his mother fleeing an abusive situation probably did save his life. I can only imagine the pain and anguish his mother went through. The father should man up and confess to why the mother was so desperate as to leave her 2 months old baby and flee. The second father sounds like a deadbeat and a scoundrel/tsotsi. The first father;'s case sounds different. He sounds like someone who truly loved and cared for his child, but circumstances got in the way. I hope both men find peace, security, love and stability with their own wives and children and are able to let go of the painful past. I've watched it again... the second father is definitely lying through his gums. Shame on him.
