This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Kia EV3. We had a chance to drive this new electric, compact crossover in S. Korea! The ALL-NEW Kia EV3. It is based on the E-GMP platform, 400V Architecture.
Kia’s main goal when building the all-new EV3 was to create an electric vehicle that is more accessible. The brand also took into consideration people’s concerns about EVs, not enough range, EVs are expensive and many are too large. The EV3 has new technology available like i-pedal 3.0 and smart regenerative braking 3.0 giving you the flexibility with one pedal drive. There are three levels available and the vehicle comes to a complete stop. You can use the paddle shifter on the steering wheel as an alternative to control the regen braking.
At this time there are two Kia EV3 options including FWD as standard range and Long range. Long range EV3 has an 81.4 kWh battery with up to 605 km/375 miles of range on 17” wheels. The standard range EV3 FWD model has a 58.3 kWh battery with 436 km/270 miles of range. These numbers are based on the WLTP cycle. The EV3 has 201 horsepower and 208 lb-ft of torque. An AWD model will be coming as well as a GT model.
The Kia EV3 is smaller than the Niro, the Niro is longer, wider and taller offering a little more cargo space. The EV3 has a small frunk to store those smaller items. The EV3 standard range goes 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and the long range 7.7.
On a DC Fast charger, the long range EV3 model can charge from 10-80% in 31 minutes, standard 29 minutes. Although the Niro EV and EV3 share the same 400 volt charging architecture, the EV3 can charge 12 minutes faster.
The all-new EV3 will arrive in North America in 2026, pricing has not been announced yet.
