I did this but with a rubber bungee, lasts longer and you just need 2 small ones, one for each side and you can adjust the strength. Awesome idea bro, thanks. I will post a video later

I used two small ones, on both hinges. It not only puts equal force so it lasts longer, but it makes sure the hood goes all the way up. Only downside is it requires a tiny bit more force to close. Nothing too bad tho

Cool and no noisy springs. I'm going to use this. My tension rod broke last week. My friend welded the broken hook part, but there's not enough tension. I guess it went out of shape when it broke.

Dude thanks a lot. This is awesome.. Also what's up with that light bar? any videos of that?
@JaePeterYoon

sorry, no videos on the light bar available. its quite simple: just some LED strip cut to appropriate size, tapped 12v power off the actual trunk light. this was my very first mod on the optima :)

cool idea but that wouldn't work for me. I have an amp rack right there in the middle.. i'd have to use 2 separate bungees

@Jae Peter Yoon, I used the same cord from Home Depot but it didn't work for me. Any idea??? Thanks.

i suggest experimenting with different cords with different tensions and sizes. As for me, the the tension got a little weaker after many months of use, so i doubled up by adding another cord with the original one... and works well again.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the same and that's why I was looking for a smaller size (feet wise) but didn't find anything smaller than the 4 feet. :-(
