Kickback Custom Motorcycle Show 2023 Retro Bike Show at Manchester Central
In this episode we take a trip to another KickBack show, this time it is at Manchester Central. Manchester Central is the old Central Station for Manchester that was refurbished a few decades ago and repurposed as an exhibition space. It is a lovely building, basically a big half cylinder built out of iron and glass.
We do like to get to a lot of shows when we can. We are booked in for Sports Cars in The Park already for this year, as well as the Carole Nash classic show.
We are originally from Manchester, so it is always nice to revisit our home city. I even support one of the football teams :) The investment over the past few decades has made Manchester one of the top modern cities in the UK, probably Europe. It is always a surprise how some of the old places have changed. We only get back every few years, and every time it has something new to amaze us.
The bikes in the show were really good, there was quite a variety. Over the years I know my tastes have changed, and keep changing. I can remember really wanting a long forked chopper, but it was an itch I never scratched! Although there were quite a few of that type of custom, I would say that over 50% of the show was the more modern, bobber, flat tracker and cafe racer styles of bike. The American style, massive front wheel and equally massive panniers in every colour imaginable hasn’t quite caught my eye yet. But never say never 🙂
The show was big enough, but not as large as I thought it would be, a good portion of Manchester Central was given over to a concurrent tattoo show. It was really interesting to take a walk around it, but as virtually every stall was very busy I didn’t have a tattoo. This time!
It was good to see Tomboy A Bit’s bike. We have watched the build on KZitem and it is even more impressive in the flesh. I feel that I may not be being ambitious enough with my build, but I bet I am riding mine first!
It was a great day out, there was enough to see, and I could have spent longer looking at the bikes, I went mad and bought a new jacket. Egged on by my nearest and dearest as well as the young gun.
There were a couple of ideas that I took away from the show, and of course they will cost money. Let me just say, something for the front brakes, and an upgrade to the suspension I am intending to use. Although I may just change my mind, you never know.
