That’s because they took pride into perfecting their craftsmanship and literally had to be the BEST to stand out. Now you can be well underdeveloped and still have a larger fan base than these old school artists thanks to social media. I’m enjoying no soundtrack playing in the back with the lyrics. Imagine 30-40 years later they STILL all their lyrics.

I’m a 90s baby too and I love the old school genre as well, you even get a clear message to what they’re saying and it’s so much better than the stuff out now, cant nobody replace that, I even met MC Lyte back in 2012 when she came to DC to DJ at the MLK event in January during my 16th bday she was nice and so down to earth, she was the first hip hop legend I got to meet at such a young age
