I see kid cudi not as depression but hope for the depressed and the come up from being depressed. His songs have sad themes but he doesn’t actually just say he wants death and has no hope. He raps about his issues and how he advances through them. He isn’t just a “depression rapper”

@@MetallurgicalChemist.02 depression is a real thing and it's not just a personal thing. Kid Cudi is one of the best artists ever. Genuinely, if it wasnt for cudi and man on the moon part 1, i dont know if i would still be here today. Every single time i listen to the album, all i can feel is this sense of belonging to a faceless, nameless, anonymous community. When i hear the album, i find a solace in the fact that there are others like me, people who rage, people who have everything they should to be happy but just never are, and how we cope with things like alcohol, weed, sex, or whatever. His lyrics are genuine, they cut deep, they cover real things that real every day people feel, and they allow us to take a comfort in those words, knowing that even if we feel alone, there are other people out there who fall to the same vices, and how in the end it will all be okay... truly a special artist...

Kid Cudi is spiritual. Showcasing lows and highs. Being genuine and vulnerable with them. Tapping into raw human emotions and tribulations. A rarity especially in hip hop in that vulnerable regard. You can hear and feel how he uses cosmic spirituality to ground himself and pushes him forward to seek more and find happiness on his own. It’s not emo or depressed but more triumphant in the human experience and that’s what really connects me to his music. You feel it on a deeper level.

as someone whose struggles with severe depression Speeding Bullet sounds like how depression feels. its toxic, disturbing, grating and broken. its the pinnacle of depicting those low, desperate and painful moments through music. i respect the fuck out of the honesty he showed on that album.

I loved your video, you deserve at least 1mill views, Im trying so hard not to cry lol, Cudi really means a lot to me, I knew him because of Pursuit of happiness(Aoki remix) when I was 12, now I'm 21, I get this vibes from Cudi that I can't explain, his songs always made me feel like I'm not alone even tho I am, and when he talks about friends, love or family makes me believe that I can make it too someday, I made my first appoinment with a psychologist, I'm not that strong, I just hide everything but I'm really emotional when I'm alone, I just want to talk to someone in real life and I don't want to be a schizo greets from Argentina

This video is honestly superb. The music and editing, the storytelling, its all really really good. Like I've watched these hiphop music documentaries/essay videos before but this one is seriously one the best ive ever seen. Kid Cudi's been at the back of my mind for a while now, ever since listening to Kids See Ghosts last year and Entergalatic (show and album) this year. I've got some free time now that school holidays are about to be here and I'm putting together a list of things that I want to do. Im definitely putting near the top of my list "listen to man on the moon trilogy" now. I usually dont do this since as a teenager I dont make that much money, but im going to go join your patreon for a month or so, because this video again was so well done

The journey of healing is rocky, there will be ups and downs and it will change people and make them do things that you may not quite like. But it’s a part of it and having artists like kid Cudi openly going through it is more important then words can describe. And that’s from someone who doesn’t even listen to his music that much, but seeing him pick himself up and continue fighting is great and I hope that he truly finds the peace he’s been looking for in his life 🫶

this was really great, feel like i got so much insight i never realized about kid cudi. awhile back i was making my way through some of his discography and listened to speedin bullet 2 heaven. given the context you shared in the video…so much makes sense now. but even without it, i really love that album. i was like “kid cudi really made this?” - it’s the raw feelings and gritty sound that made me obsessed. i guess i was picking up on the depressive undertones as someone who has had many a depressive episodes in the past year. i can totally understand why he wouldn’t feel comfortable talking about some of those songs. but i know how cathartic it must be to just release that anger. cause depression and s*icidal ideation aren’t just about feeling blue or low. there’s so much rage and frustration that comes with it. that’s what i appreciated with that album. it’s not hiding or lying - it’s just there for us to see. i’m glad he seems to he in a better place. will definitely have to go back and make my way through the rest of his albums!

The themes in Cudi's music are being low, depression, loneliness, being lost and searching for answers to get through those feelings……I think most teen/early 20 year olds can connect with that as they are finding their way in the real world.…..also for my generation this was the first rapper that admitted he was on drugs not to party but because of the things I am going through that was a way of coping.
