Bought an F80 M3 last week, and the dealer uses AutoCheck and it came back clean. Ran the CarFax this morning (coincidentally) and it shows rear damage reported on it. I'd advise always having both reports done, and a separate PPI done with these cars. Got too caught up, and disregarded my better judgment
@bimmere60ify

every car has damage no matter what you buy. the f80 is not a exotic or a "rare" car. damage report can be done from a literal paint ding and when you go get it checked out at a shop or pdr shop, its gonna show up.

I bought my M3 with just over 35k and I was bummed with the amount of pits that were on the front bumper and headlights from traveling. I guess I should be happy to know it’s original.

I like the "less, but better" approach. I think that it gives people something to look forward to and get excited about when a new video pops up. Not to mention it eases your stress when you aren't trying to meet crazy deadlines every week :)

Greets, Bryan. Sorry to hear about the damage on the M3. I had a similar experience when I bought my 2013 328i in 2016. My car had 35K miles on it from the original owner and a clean CarFax as well so I thought as was well. It wasn't until I was rear ended in 2017 that the truth came out. My first clue was when I picked my Bimmer up from the body shop, the guy there told me I should trade it in that day and get a new one. He explained that by doing that, the damage would not show up on CarFax. Fast forward several months, and it came time to settle with insurance for the damages on my car, the insurance produced a record of an accident the previous owner had in 2014. As a result, they game me much less money for the new damages. Now, my car is worth less than I owe on it. However, since my 328i has a 6 speed manual, I am not looking to send it away any time soon.

I had the same thing happen with my E92 335i 3 years ago. Carfax and dealer said no accidents and I inspected the car best I could. Took it to my mechanic who said it looks like the car was in a front end collision at some point. Fast forward to this past summer, I get a trade in appraisal and the Carfax shows 2 front end collisions. Unfortunately for me the Carfax updated to show these accidents 3 months after I bought my car. Learned that Carfax does not replace a 3rd party pre purchase inspection.

I recently found out my front end was damaged also by the previous owner. My clear coat was pealing and the dealer stated that they can tell my fender was repainted due to one of the fenders being glossy and the other being matte finished under the hood. Always a risk you take buying used.

I got that bmw assurances speech, fortunately the dealer covered the 3.5k dollars worth of fixes that were noticed within 48 hours of my wife’s f30 335i purchase. Now you got me buggin, the front of my 328i looked mint and felt ultra smooth when I purchased it, didn’t even cross my mind it could’ve been replaced.

I had the same issue with the SQ5 I purchased. I had a hunch when looking at the car prior to purchase that the bumper was too clean. I initially thought oh maybe they had a clear bra on. After purchasing the car and taking it home I noticed a black unpainted rivet. Turns out my driver side fender was replaced and the original bumper was resprayed for color blending. The important lesson is never let get excitement get the best of you and always have a PPI done on the car but someone other than the dealer. Likewise my SQ5s car fax is clean.

Front bumper misalignment is something that happens relatively often on these cars. Since my car was delivered new from factory with some issues, it’s the first thing I look at on every F8x ever since. I perfected the fitment myself because I’m the perfectionist that BMW QA and the dealer clearly lacks. BTW, Another tip is to look at the sticker date... e.g. each headlight has a sticker with a timestamp, if one is replaced or both have, it’s easy to spot. Even the floor mats have a production date on them.

I think BMW printed the production dates on the parts, you can check the production dates of head lights and bumpers, comparing with the production date of this car, you might find something, good luck...

Kies, you should suggest your viewers call or write their representatives and senators and ask them to support the RPM Act of 2019. This act will stop the epa from destroying the motorsports industry. I work in the wood coatings industry and I can tell you that they have ruined the quality of coatings sold in this country, especially in California. Lets protect motorsports.

Very high chance the dealer knew about the front end damage. they all read the paint coating thickness using a paint meter. a lot of collision repairs don't make it to Carfax, even with repairs done at a BMW CRCC. My previous F80 had been in two accidents, and neither one showed up on Carfax.
@spussego

if it was a front end collision and the crash bar supports were replaced..... double/triple/quadruple check that there is no frame rail damage..... and check the crash bar itself.... if put back correctly with OEM parts everything should line up properly.... so something is off..... but it does look like the parts that were replaced were OEM parts at least on the underside...... maybe the diffrence you are seeing is the damage to the hood that "bodyshopped" and bondo'd back into place instead of replaced.....whoever it was put a lot of cash into it just to offload it.... sucks that they are doing that... but since the down pipe is a metal thing, I am not that worried. However those plastic charge pipes and turbo to inter-cooler pipes..... well hopefully those are not included.... I wanted to buy some ER anodized charge pipes and turbo to inter-cooler pipes to replace the shit plastic stuff BMW puts on their f30's this year.....

Carfax doesn't mean a damn thing. My old 335 E92 had a buddy back into my front bumper. Wound up replacing the bumper and I split the cost with him. I know the bodyshop so they didnt report it and it was never filled with insurance so they didnt report it either. Sometime later a lady drove into my rear bumper. Damage was very lite and we went through her insurance. Bumper got resprayed but it was reported to carfax and came back as rear structural damage. So the reports can be very misleading. Best option when buying used is the 2 10 option. Buy the car that is less than 2 years old and under 10k miles.

Had a similar experience recently regarding crash damage. I was looking at a Fire Orange M3 with clean carfax in Atlanta. Took it to an indie shop for a PPI and found similiar damage. Front bumper-cover replaced, one wheel, repainted fender and spotless rocker panel on one side. Also poor alignment of fender and hood. Moral of the story. Always get a PPI done on any car. It's worh a couple hundred dollars. Carfax is not gospel.

Ida Bfdld aftermarket bumpers won’t fit well. Only oem will. But aftermarket is like 500-700 oem is 2000-3000. Many insurance company will go aftermarket unless you bring it to your own shop. I left mine at their shop and they wanted aftermarket. Took it to another to push for oem.

Hey bro, thanks for the amazing video. I got my used 340i and my front bumper also has same issue as your m3. Front bumper has gaps in between and some spaces... how can you fix this? Is it even fixable?
@dylan-nguyen
4 жыл бұрын
Sean K if you have an oem bumper you can take it off, and tighten the screws differently. there's some wiggle room. but if it's aftermarket, it may be due to bad fitment. you can also pull the fenders and hood off to adjust too, since those were prob adjusted for the original bumper. but the gaps mainly mean it was fixed by a bad body shop, a good one would make the gaps even, unless you drive a Tesla.. LOL

Ouch! $4500 per DP sale! Ouch! Ouch!! Ouch!!! Edit: No doubt it was hit in the front-end,...and I bet the previous owner paid out of pocket vs reporting the accident to the insurance company! I bet a good conversation with the right BMW parts guy could lead to the receipt where these replaced items were purchased! Yeah,...I know it's a violation in privacy, etc, etc. Also, if you bought the car from a BMW dealer,...I bet you 10,000-to-1 they knew about the replaced parts,...as they do a thorough inspection of highly sought after M cars! Sadly,...you got- juiced-by-cover-up! Thanks for the info about the "stickers"!
