Ah yes, something I've experienced myself a couple of times. However, remember that while other photographers can visit the same location, they can't tell your story. And it's your story that makes your video unique. :-)

Hi Julian: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. I really liked the images that you captured in the video. I am trying to figure out how to fit this into our travel plans from the Lake District to Onich. We will be travelling north through Tyndrum to get to Onich, or we could do it one of the days we have in Onich to drive south to do this castle along with Castle Stalker. Do you have any suggestions? Cheers, Keith

It worked well with no clouds in my opinion Julian as they may have been a distraction. The sky framed it well. Thought you held it together well at the end with those geese trying to get into the act. Good stuff 👍👍

Hi Julian, been following you channel almost since you started and always found your vlogs really interesting. However since you started the 5min versions I feel they have lost impact, I appreciate they are time consuming to make and it's a fine balance because ultimately it's a business. Please don't take this personally it's only one person's opinion. Cheers
@jbairdexp
6 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian, not taking it personally at all. The 5 minute videos are a reflection of the amount of time I have to spend on a location. If it's a quick shoot from a single location or spot there generally isn't sufficient content to produce longer form content. Unfortunately, I don't get to go on bigger photography adventures as much as I'd like, but when I do I do try and produce longer form content like my Lake District series of videos. Anyway, the 5 minute videos aren't the only videos I will produce, so even though they might be as impactcful, there will be other videos that will hopefully deliver additional content. Cheers :-)

The 5 minute adventure is a brilliant concept, not long but you certainly cram a lot in. Stunning location, and as always brilliant images. The few seconds of drone footage at the end are breath taking, enough to make me want to go out and buy one. I tried the castle this time last year with similar conditions but my results weren’t brilliant, but that’s an excuse to return and try again and see if my skills have improved. Thanks for sharing the adventure

just watched your vlog with great interest as were heading on our 1st visit to Scotland from North Wales in Oct (its a coach trip save hubby driving as that's his job). we are staying at the Loch Awe hotel and we have been planning to Photograph this gorgeous scene. we were thinking we could walk from the Hotel, (probably not as I cant walk for miles) however they have advised not to due to their being no pavement! I then thought taxi again they said no taxis.... do you know if their are any local taxis? as I heard you say this was your local area? any advice would be appreciated . the one Image I wanted to get from our visit now seems a million miles away even though its so close :-( cheers.
@jbairdexp
Жыл бұрын
Your information is correct. There is no pavement to Kilchurn castle from the Loch Awe Hotel. You could walk along the verge, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a very busy road, with large vehicles (buses, lorries) travelling at speed. And as far as I'm aware the nearest taxi firms will be in Oban, and that it will cost you a fortune even if you can get them out. I'm afraid I don't really have any good suggestions. Car would be your only option really.

Great shots at a lovely location! I noted you said you have a bit of difficulty with batteries, wondering if it was the cold - or you forgot to charge them 😂😂 I’m a D850 shooter too but haven’t brought it to a cold place yet but hoping to do Iceland at some point when I win the lotto!....just wondering should I be expecting issues with batteries in the cold?
@jbairdexp
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :-) The D850 was fine in the cold. And I only had to change the battery on that camera because I'd been using it the day before as well. It was the batteries in Sony that really suffered. They didn't last long even with a full charge from the night before. So as far as the D850 is concerned, I wouldn't worry about the cold. But it is generally recommend you keep your spare somewhere warm like your trouser pocket. Enjoy Iceland!! :-)

Lovely conditions mate, living here in the Lakes the wind speed is the first thing I check whenever I am looking at the weather forecast. I liked the second shot that you showed. Aside from the clear reflections I also love the subtlety of the tones in the castle and in the hill side. Personally I'm not fazed by a bit of blue sky so long as I am shooting around dawn - I love the glow you get when shooting in the opposite direction to the sun.
