I've discovered this video during my re-education. I've been playing Kill Team regularly for at least a year and I've only just realised that AP2 removes two Defence Dice it doesn't make your Save 2 worse like it does in 40k. What an idiot haha!

I’ve got a question on “piercing”; if you retain a crit in a shooting attack with the ranged weapon, does that mean that one retained crit dice gets the “APx” ability, or does retaining any crits give the “APx” ability to ALL successful hits (normal and crits)? I was confused at first, but I’m starting to think it’s the latter.
@tabletopskirmishgames

I read it as the latter too. Because it says ‘the weapon gains the APx special rule’ I think you’re right.
@edawang1671

So, to clarify on that: Px gives your WEAPON APx for that SHOOTING ATTACK if you retain A critical hit in the ROLL ATTACK DICE step. Note that APx is a rule that modifies your OPPONENT's defense characteristic, and not your attack dice. So say you shoot with 4 attack dice and get a crit, your weapon has APx for that shooting action. If you have an ability that lets you shoot twice, you do not have APx from your previous shooting action. Further nuance, since the critical hit is retained in the ROLL ATTACK DICE step, it goes into effect before a critical defense dice can cancel it out (ROLL DEFENCE DICE step). The only way to defend against Px is if a rule goes into effect during the ROLL ATTACK DICE step, such as the Staunch Specialist's Shrug Off ability: change one crit to a normal hit for each shooting attack.

About the REAP X special rule. If you parry with the crit than you dont deal the MW ? and also if you have multiple crit hits, you count reap for each ?

Stun said "substract 1 APL from the target" for how long? For all the battle?
@tabletopskirmishgames

It lasts for the next activation of the model. That could even be in the next turning point. Give a token , then apply the minus 1AP. Once activation has finished you remove the token.

with the indirect rule does that mean that operatives with conceal order behind cover are valid targets?

Hi thanks for this! I have 3 questions that i think have not been covered: 1. With the death Krieg spotter. Can his spotting ability activate an operative that already performed his action? Or is his ability only to activate an unactivated friendly operative, that then has to flip his activation token to the grey side. 2. When an operative wants to descend from a vantage point, but there is a low wall infront of him, does he need to spend additional movement to traverse this wall first to then descend down? 3. How does one properly use ancillary support actions (krieg killteam) like a guided missile and artillery barrage? Is it activated during the activation of one of the operatives that replaces his 1 apl shoot action for the ancillary or is it a separate thing that does not make you activate one of your operatives when it is your turn to do so? Thanks to anyone in advance if they can help me out on this!

For 1. it says in the unique action “during its NEXT activation”. So I would say if it’s already been activated, it can’t have another activation that turning point. Another unnecessarily confusing rule here, otherwise this would be good to use the spotter with the sniper to take out some sneaky Orks!

For 2. the terrain that has this feature that came in the Octarius set classes those features as Traversable and Light, so just follow those rules along with climbing or jumping.

For 3. you can choose to activate a “Ready friendly operative” so I guess any operative that hasn’t activated yet. It doesn’t limit it to a specific operative. Then you use the Guided Missile as a Shoot action. (I think of it like choosing and using different weapon.) For Strafing run it’s not as clear. They don’t write “Shoot action” anywhere in the description as they did for the others. They do say “make a shooting attack” but it’s halfway down, not highlighted, and worded completely different to the others. So on this one I’m not sure whether it’s a totally free attack or costs an action. Sorry. I’ll do a deep dive video for the whole kill team soon and in that I’ll go through everything that they can do. Hopefully someone can clarify the Strafing run here 👊

In regards to 3: pg 43, left column, under Veteran Guardsman Tactical Assets: 2 maximum tactical assets, activate a tactical asset instead of a friendly operative and resolve its effects. Your opponent then activates an operative as normal. These are powerful 1-time-use abilities, but you sacrifice movement and board control for pretty safe and reliable shooting. The only thing you use from your operatives is their line of sight, visibility, and cover lines. For Strafing Run: a. your guardsman makes line of sight to an enemy (enemy is now designated as a "mark"). b. you place down a token anywhere on the map. c. draw line of sight from the "mark" to the center of the token, shooting the "mark" and anyone the line hits.

In regards to 1: the rule specifies "select a ready operative", so you wouldn't be able to use an activated model. "Ready operative" can be odd, since until you've used up all your APL and resolved their actions, an operative is still "ready". Pg 59 of core rulebook, bottom of page.
