This might be the pedal that convinces my bud to finally give pedals a shot. He's even more belligerent than you are when it comes to his signal chain lol; guitar straight in the front and that's it! I'd absolutely love a shootout between this and the SLO you just posted. Maybe even the Loomis pedal too and make a whole big deal out of it!

I just seen this pedal on gleens channel and saved the site. I was considering a multi effect unit which is cool but im just a bedroom guitarist in a small apartment with paper thin walls with presently just a DS1 boss distortion through a old 1990s peavey bandit 112. instead of the multi effect I was thinking of this Mauler pedal. For $249 on the site. even though for that price id probably get a great multi effect unit. decisions decisions .

It would be great if you had a cheap and cheerful used Fender Hot Rod to use for pedals. It is the perfect middle ground for a guy with a budget practice amp in the bedroom, garage band or part time weekend warrior to tell how close he can get to one day having a 'Kyle-Vee Fifty Fun Nifty' half stack one day, :-)
@KevinTheMetalhead
Жыл бұрын
A Fender HRD is absolutely not "cheap." Budget is definitely more accurate. "Cheap" refers to the bottom of the barrel stuff that's both super low in cost and poor quality like those small Fender amps that have tiny speakers. The HRD is a good quality amp for a good price so "budget" or even "inexpensive" are definitely better descriptors.

In Glen's demonstration with the full left mode, it seemed like volume acted almost like a gain knob for HM2 which seemed like a bug, not a feature. It would be great to know if that's how it actually is or not. I hope it's not like that because it takes away control between distortion and actual volume.

If you still want an answer, it is unfortunately like that. Kind of wish there was a seperate gain for either side. Makes it very hard to get a good tone without clipping my audio interface.

As long as you have another pedal for soloing it is the perfect Crunch pedal, none better at any price. I hope you have checked out the Soldano Amps Soldano SLO that Mike Soldano designed to clone his own amp. He did an 11 out of 10 job on it, totally convincing!

I like it seems like it’s be hard to get a bad sound out of it. I’ve never been into distortion pedals but I’ve been thinking about getting one to be able to hopefully achieve inspiring high gain tones without having to crank my amp to paint pealing levels. I’ve been leaning towards the EVH od ( noise gate) and then the Chug sounds great also with a gate built in and now this, no gate but you get two pedals to blend.

Yep, those left controls are just a depth section. Presence and resonance controls. Very similar to the amptwewker tight metal pro circuit. This one sounds a little less 5150 though. Pedals are about to become the new “amp sim” in terms of tone chasing.

As the reviewer of Stomp Box Steals I can tell you it all started getting serious when starting in 2014 a few European companies were offering the first MIAB pedals that sounded convincing thru a cheap used budget combo amp that most guys had.
