Pavilion, N.Y. - For more than 40 years, the Genesee County Farm Bureau has used Kinderfarmin' to teach kids about the origins of their food.
"It was a Farm Bureau initiative to help kids connect the ideas of food and farm," said Farm Bureau member Natasha Sutherland. "2% of our population feeds the other 98%."
This year's edition took place at Hildene Farms in Pavilion. More than 600 kindergarten students from 10 school districts attended.
"I want kids to take away from this that dairy farming is very important and that its not just a farm full of cows to pet," said Lockwood Sutherland from Hildene Farms. "That is where the ice cream and the milk comes from, and that it's very important to a lot of things."
13WHAM's Chris Lopez has the story and lots of adorable cows. He even gets to milk a couple of them.
