Mikael! I'm so thrilled you have a video on the exact thing I've been wondering about as my first child starts kindergarten next year. I just discovered your videos and I love your transparency. I feel like I know you just by watching them. Your a huge inspiration to me and when I watched your previous video on the why you homeschool my eyes just welled up. My heart is right there with you as we live 'for such a time as this'. Your love of Christ shines through every video.

Can you share your year at a glance template?? I love this set up. The focus that you describe is simple. You need to be at their level of engagement and fun to make learning happen and instill a love of learning!

I just watched your video on why you homeschool... It truly melted my heart!! I'm pulling my kids from public school next Monday when they are supposed to go back... I was wondering what church you go to... I feel a calling to make Christ the center of our lives... the way you speak about your testimony and relationship with Christ is so touching....

so sweet to receive a message from you , it makes me smile! And you are so brave to bring your kids home, it takes courage and strength! Good for you! You can do it. I am lds, known as "mormon". I am a christian. A follower of Christ. He is my redeemer, my Savior, my light and my all. He is the way. And as a mormon, Christ is the center of our church, he is who we worship and who we learn about. So good to meet you! mormon.org

I'm still watching, but I thought I would share what I did with my kindergartener for all about reading.... For the long practice sheets. First, we don't do the activities until after the lesson. Even though the manual usually puts it before. Second, she also likes to use a crayon or pencil to cross out each word or sentence. And finally, when we were struggling to get through the last bit of level 1...I gave her a sticker for each complete lesson and one sticker for properly read practice sheets for that lesson. And she got to choose a prize every so many stickers. The prizes were dollar store prizes. Those worked like a charm. Now on the next level.... She's just cruising. Hope that helps!

What I meant to add.... Is that we don't do the prizes anymore. That was just for the last push at the end of level 1.

I just watched your review on Th Good and The Beautiful K, which led me here. Do you still do your daily workbox folders while using that curriculum? If so, how do you do that? The Good & Beautiful have almost all the subjects in one curriculum, so how do you seperate it in folders? I would love to know how you have transitioned this concept, because we will be doing the same curriculum for my Kindergartener, but I love the folder idea! Thanks for your suggestions!

Good question! We still have workbox folders. For my Kinder I still use these clear folders to separate "reading", "handwriting" "math" and "readers for the day" . For my older ones the magazine holders separate TGTB, Math, and morning scripture journal. I have found being organized like this works really well with TGTB in our home. Loving it still

hahah, that is actually really funny! awesome job for spotting that ;) for curriculum I research on KZitem and listen to other moms experiences, then pray about it, and the Spirit guides me to what will work best. The curriculum I have put together for my kindergartner has been really great! we are loving everything we chose.

I love this idea! I think i might try it with my first graders... What system do you use for your older kids? What do you think of the drawer workboxes? I'm trying to find a new system. We are currently using bins with lids the way Jenny Phillips suggested but it is a bit cumbersome.
