Oh my, for a man who often will tell his viewers that the Tin HiFi T2 is the only IEM you will ever need for approximately $52.00, how do you go from that to $949.00 and get a so-so review? The average person, IMO, can't afford it. Thorough review as always, Dave. Good job.🙂

He has multiple collabs in varied price brackets. He wants to have the option there for the people who can afford it. I see nothing wrong with this. He still says himself his $150 iem collab is all he himself needs to enjoy music. When he says all you need for X price, he's just trying to get the point across for the people who can't afford to go higher that they do not need to, but rather have the option to and will get a bit more in return. The Dunu SA6 Ultra for $550 received very positive reviews from all reviewers I've seen try it. I may not share his taste in tuning, but I respect the guy for his honesty, and am entertained by his personality so I do feel the need to defend him here. Find me another reviewer who tells people that a competitor to his product is better than his own and they are going to need to lower to price to match them like he did with his Z12 compared to the Wu Zetian using the same driver at the same price.

@herb601 The nanna would smash the Tin T2. It is always about competition within the price range and about personal taste, earresonance, ... and so. The t2 also wasnt compared to the kilobuck stuff 💁 u have to see it like this. People tend to be more strict and less forgiving when it comes to expensive stuff compare to the cheap one.

A so-so review is perfectly normal. I just auditioned the Susvara, Meze Elite, Empyrean, Final D8000, the new Dan Clarke headphone with the blue stitching on the head band at my local headphones store, shout-out to Soundkitchen-Espressobar, Rotterdam... Compared to the Elite for my ears all of them were meh. All had their issues. Just because something has a fat price tag on, that doesn't mean it will deliver what you expect for that amount of money.

I have the original nanna 2.0 (imperial) which was already source and tip picky. I ended up with the spinfit cp145 cause the final etype tips (which are great tips) didnt have good synergy with the nanna. As a source I use shanling m8, ovidius B1 or xduoo TA-10 the most. Centrance dacport HD (great amp) for instance dint have very good synergy (As u called it ,,special sauce). In my ear canal the final etypes use to tame upper mids and treble and add bass, so this combination was very already too fuzzy with the nanna 2.0 (very smooth and warm). I can confirm the nanna has very good 3D sound.

Great review. I've been eyeing the original Nannas for a while - could be a good second hand buy, if the price is nudged down a few hundred dollars. Judging by this review, upper mids are more relaxed in the original (Zeus mentioned he wanted to make his colab more aggressive). The ugly logo on the faceplate would be enough to keep me from spending $950 on the 2.1 Z - at that price buyers deserve some eye candy (which is subjective of course).

Yes, I recommend picking these up on a discount or used market, too steep at full retail price. I haven't heard the og Nanna but if Z wanted to increase the aggression then he succeeded.

I have a Variations and I think it is a bit like Marmite, it sounds clean and lean and some love it because of that, but for me it lacks midbass. Without midbass, its subbass is predominant, with zero bleed, so kind of a party animal with a nice subwoofer effect, but realism is lost in the process. I keep it for its uniqueness, when its good, its really good. Most of the time it is just OK to my ears, though.

Hi :) can you provide me those tracks where you had that sensation of the soundstage being too intense, please? I want to test in on my nanna 2.0 and will test it also on my nanna 2.1 when it will arrive. Thanks

Here are a few quotes that came to mind after I read your comment. “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” ― Ernest Hemingway “On the highest throne in the world, we still sit only on our own bottom.” ― Michel de Montaigne “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” ― Rick Warren

Do you think that your constant need to fiddle with sources and tips is due to Nanna Z being too analytical? I.e., exposing every flaw in a mix/mastering of the source material?
@TheHonestAudiophile
Жыл бұрын
They're aren't analytical like a reference IEM, they're just source picky. I would go for about an hour or so and then would get the urge to swap gear after giving my ears a comfort break. I skipped songs more than anything. Tips usually got swapped based on type of music playing.
