The biggest hurdle would be social, Corky's mother passed in 2000, her much younger living siblings don't know her, she might not be accepted in to the tight Resident society. The book Listening to Whales explains quite a bit about that. At Seaworld she has her adopted children Orkid and Keet along with a place in their society. If she were retired at least let her have a friend go with her.

And her eye problems were caused by that chlorinated water. Poor Corky! I don't know if her family is still alive. When she heard a recording of her family, she began to shake. SeaWorld are a bunch of greedy and heartless bastards!

No, you're not willing to part with that money. We know it will work. Keiko was just the beginning. Technology and knowledge has come a long way in 20 years. Also, look what happened with Springer. Although, she wasn't in captivity she was reunited with her family and now is also a mommy. They are learning more and more everyday. If you figure that they have finally quit breeding these beautiful animals there is another 20 to 40 years of them being captive. That is enough to keep these people's pockets lined with cash until they die. They don't care about them.

it's important to note that now, corky is the oldest member of her pod. every single whale she knew when she was in the wild is now dead. she has no connection to any of her wild family any more. imagine this, you're taken from your family at a young age and moved across the world. after 50 years, you are taken back to where your family is, but you have never met any of them. they may be your siblings. but to you, they're just another stranger. Corky has so many health problems right now, she's got eye problems from old age and the chlorinated water at Marineland of the Pacific. oh yeah, contrary to what this news bit would have your believe, Corky was NOT captured by SeaWorld. she was sent to Marineland of the Pacific after her capture, and went to SeaWorld around a decade later, after Marineland Closed. it was close to four decades ago at Marineland where Corky heard a recording of her family and had a strong reaction. now, Corky does still know her "A calls" which is the dialect of her wild pod, A pod. however, in over 50 years, the specifics of their dialect have likely changed. imagine sending someone from the 1960's forward in time to the present, they'd understand most of what we said, but many phrases or terms would be unfamiliar. corky also has NO TEETH from her time in captivity, meaning even if she was released, she wouldn't be able to hunt properly and would slowly starve to death, or, more likely, resort to begging humans for food (Keiko did this) and become a nuisance and likely get put down or returned to captivity. another side affect of this possible begging is, if she does get food from begging, other whales in her pod would start to copy her. a possibility would be a sea pen. but that also has a lot of problems. Corky is old and sensitive to change, and unlike many other SeaWorld whales, she was never moved around from park to park, so there is a chance the stress of the move could kill her. lets say she gets to the seapen. the constant change in temperature and the currents are completely foreign to her. that sort of drastic change could very easily send her into shock and kill her. alright, but what if neither of those happened. in the past animal rights activists have cut the nets of seapens, causing the orcas to drown. this happened to a little rescued whale named Miracle. activists protested for her release, despite the government saying she couldn't be released, and one night, cut the nets to the seapen holding miracle and somehow, miracle got caught in the net and drowned. at first activists (the same ones that cut the net) said that Miracle was so unhappy there that she chewed through the netting and drowned trying to free herself, and used this "evidence" of unhappy animals to try and get other orcas free. but when it came out that the nets had been cut with knives and not whale teeth, the activists went silent. so make your own conclusions from that information. i'm not in any way saying that SeaWorld is a good place for her to spend her final years, but i think it is the best option

Oh God, shut up!!! She would have been in human care and her POD STILL LIVED you ignorant, uneducated SW payed troll. Stop lying all the time!!! Why do ALL orca's die at 1/3 of their natural lifespan in captivity??? With a few exeptions like Corky?? The normal lifespan in the big, bad ocean is: male 60 year's, female min 80 year's, so what the f are you talking about?? And SW gave the ORDER TO CAPTURE THESE ORCA'S!!! That is on video and the people who did it are telling who payed them. Now you have killed another orca who could have spent a few good year's in a SEABAY with human care+food+vet's+ inside poos's.You are only greedy, shame on you!! Karma will get you!!
