I would like to correct a few of the comments here. I was present at the programming and recording of this music shortly before the opening of Disneyland's new Fantasyland in 1983. 28 minutes of music were arranged because the tape designated to hold the music and data tracks was 28 minutes long. This is the recording of the Gavioli currently sitting behind the Dumbo attraction. The original (serial # 3454) Wurlitzer 157 with duplex tracker bar was shipped from the Wurlitzer factory on May 16, 1922 and "married" to the Dentzl Carousel at Sunnyside Beach Park, Toronto, Canada. I do not know when Disney commissioned custom rolls for the 157 or who arranged and cut them but the original Disney music played live until around 1970. In 1970 a recording was made of the 157. I worked with the technician that assisted with that recording (keeping the 157 running). The original 1970 recording played until 1982 when the land was closed for major modifications. By the way the Carousel, Dumbo and Tea Cups. attractions were all moved to new locations during that remodel.

Actually I think the Sunnyside organ was a 165 and that this one came from Bud Hurlbut. Both the 157 and 165 are in Arnold Chase’s collection. There’s a good article by Capt. John Leonard of Ontario about working on this carousel back at Sunnyside park in the COAA magazine!

The original Wurlitzer 157 played form 1955 until about 1971. At that time a recording of the Disney music was made and that played until 1982 when the land closed for a year for major remodel. This recording is of the Dumbo band organ (Gavioli) in 1983. The organ was played by a Peterson Pipe organ controller with a recording broadcasted simultaneously to the carousel and Dumbo attractions.

If I may ask, does the small world clock tower ticking sound come from a similar machine of a woodblock being broadcasted through the loudspeakers?

@@baxleygiessler4539 Someone heard it did. Idk how that sound is produced though.

@@baxleygiessler4539 I have read that in the 1960's & 70's, the small world clock did actually come from a wood block broadcast from the loudspeakers. However, at one point around the early 80's, a Disney employee accidentally said a swear that broadcast in those speakers, which meant that for the last 40+ years the small world clock ticking has been its own recording.

Those are speakers on the carousel, which in this case, are connected to the Dumbo organ

It was done with a two track system, one playing the band organ audio through speakers for the carousel and the other NOT played through speakers with corresponding analog data to play the Gavioli organ remotely. So basically the organ was kept in sync with the speakers with this set up and allowed for the same music to be heard at both the carousel and at the Dumbo ride but from two different sources simultaneously.

This organ soundtrack was at WDW's carousel in the 80's up until around 1993 when the current organ soundtrack replaced it. It sounds much better and crisper than this one.

Well, this is the 65 key Gavioli that was on the WDW Carousel in its old location. The organ is good but the arrangements don’t make the best use of it. You can hear it playing non-Disney arrangements in this video, which showcases its sound better: kzitem.info/news/bejne/k6WEtYZ8pYubfKA

@@aromncoronado2005 Yep, but there is an ACTUAL organ! Those speakers, by the way, sync with the audio from the actual organ in the Dumbo attraction.

This version was used from the 1983 New Fantasyland until the park and Carrousel's 50th anniversary in 2005.
