I used to work on a crab boat in the Bering Sea catching king crab they are all Frozen. The amount of effort it would take to send living king crabs is way too ridiculous. You have to freeze them right away so unless you got it straight out of the Bering Sea you are eating previously frozen king crab. There is nothing wrong with it being frozen of course if anything I would rather have it frozen and then steamed or thawed because if you have a fresh crab that didn't make the trip or it's sick and maybe even died a little before it got to your plate it can make you sick.
