I wish you could have went back in the day when all of the good rides and Hanna Barbera and such was there. There used to be a dolphin show and a lake with water ski shows and even a safari monorail. When I was a kid growing up in Fairfax County, Virginia, this was our "home" theme park where we would go on long weekends like MLK Day or Veterans Day. It was owned by Paramount at the time (mid-late 90s-early 2000s) and so had theming from both Hanna-Barbera (now gone to Six Flags parks) and later Nickelodeon. Their water park had "slime," which was green water.

Jason, the Racer 75 wooden coaster was originally called the Rebel Yell ( because of all the Civil War battlefields in the area). This coaster- along with the original Singing Mushrooms, had a cameo appearance in the 70's movie ROLLERCOASTER. If you're traveling back south, please try some Eastern NC bbq ....Wilbers & McCall's BBQ & Seafood in Goldsboro are good choices 😋 🐖

If you find yourself back near the San Francisco Bay Area, there are three Cedar Fair parks you might consider. Gilroy Gardens is a quirky and beautiful non-profit park operated by Cedar Fair with lots of horticulture, lots of rides inspired by the nearby farms, and the historic circus trees. Great America in the Silicon Valley has it’s days numbered. I think it is slated to close in ten years. Further north in Vallejo, Cedar Fair operates a hybrid animal/coaster park. All these locations have very different vibes from downtown San Francisco
