This will be the perfect book for me right now. As a student, Jim's contempt for academia is shared by me.

As a recently retired academic who barely survived the profession, I almost died of laughter reading this book, especially the ending.

Thank you for this. I've always been the greatest fan of Amis'. The early Evelyn Waugh novels should be next.

Jeff is right, my ability to read books now is over until I'm retired, and I'm a 28 year old professional. Time is finite and the only spare time I have is spent laying there exhausted.

A good "read and review"er of books will evantually led people to read the book they read and reviewed. To confirm things directly from the book that incite their interest mentioned by the reviewer.

A great first novel by Amis but none of his other novels seem half as good
