This silent film is the second-earliest footage saved in the KIRO 7 archive. KIRO 7 had its first TV broadcast on February 8, 1958. This film, which shows the first TV studio and broadcast at 1530 Queen Anne Ave. N., was transferred to a three-quarter-inch U-matic videocassette in the 1980s, was marked September 3, 1958.
The video also shows Van de Kamp's Bakery at 550 Queen Anne Ave. N. (Pagliacci Pizza in 2017), the Queen Anne Counterbalance, a Seattle transit bus, a view of Elliott Bay, the second-earliest footage of J.P. Patches (Chris Wedes), some of KIRO TV’s first women employees, the oldest newscast preserved in the KIRO 7 archive, and a view of Upper Queen Anne and the former home of KIRO Radio at 1507 Queen Anne Ave N (Betty restaurant in 2017).
