Despite their weight, I really liked the feel and look of these at my HD dealer although the matte seems to be practically impossible to find, good lord. However, the question I have is how do these fair in cold temperatures? I ride all year so do these freeze or get super butt cold? This is one heck of an investment for a helmet that I’ll wear only most or some of the year. Also, I do not like the (currently on their site) red on the strap but that’s splitting hairs a bit I guess. Otherwise, I love everything I’m hearing about this U.S. company and product. Nice review bud

So it’s great in heat and in cold. The weight of the lid as you’ve felt won’t have that lifting effect at higher speeds like other helmets. And yes they are pricey but you can’t buy another life. Also with the liner you can warm them up as well as cool them off. They do not recommend sticking the liner in warm or cold water since the liner is porous and can swell minimally. I hope that helps you out. Sorry for such a delay in the response!

If helmets are more safety equipment than a fashion statement, why in the world would anyone buy half a helmet? Do you not consider the lower half of your head worth protecting...? These helmets are no lighter than a full-face helmet. If you won't notice wearing a Kirsh helmet, the same will happen with a full-face helmet. Need to get used to a silicon liner? You mean one that doesn't breath like fabric and foam? Once the refrigeration wears off, you'll feel like your head is wrapped in plastic wrap...

The company chose to go with a half helmet to start out since majority of the riders prefer to use a half helmet. They have prototypes out for a full face as we speak but nothing for sale as of yet. The liner is porous meaning it is breathable. I never felt that my head was “wrapped in plastic wrap” even after the cooling effect wore off. And yes the liner is different than foam so yes it’ll feel a little weird at first to wear but I got used to it fairly quickly. So yes the lower half of your face is very much worth protecting and for those who wear half shells this is arguably the safest half shell on the market. The liner is specifically designed to reduce intracranial movement which causes concussions and other traumatic brain injuries.
