This video was shot by my dad, John Miller, Sr., and starts with a big swell at Delray Beach and then switches to the immediate aftermath of the drift boat "Kit Dan" rolling on its side when it attempted to head back through the Boynton inlet through the swell and got caught broadside. I remember my dad telling me everyone there that day knew the boat was going to have problems with the swell but his old film camera malfunctioned during the Kit Dan's approach and he missed when it rolled, but he smacked it a few times and got it working.
The video was shot from the south side of the bridge and also shows the Mart Jean going to the rescue as well as efforts from an unknown charter boat to help pluck survivors from the water at considerable risk to themselves and their boats. Local accounts state that one person died during the accident.
