It’s so refreshing to see a woman who does her own DIY’s rather than voicing over a time lapse of her husband doing all the work. Girl, you’re incredible and inspirational! 👏👏👏

I just found your amazing content. It is just what I was looking for. My rental home island is too big for the space. I want to detach it so I can move it and make a smaller one. I would like to put both on casters. There are two electrical outlets at each end which I don’t need in the new island. I already detached the heavy marble top but need ideas on how to gently detach the cabinet from the floor. Thank you.
@KelseyRomitoDIY
Жыл бұрын
Not sure how you would do that in a rental. The electrical wires are most likely coming out of the floor and can’t be moved around. I’d talk to my landlord.

we are literally in the middle of doing the EXACT same thing right now to, almost to the T. Two questions if you have time, for the electrical I assume you needed help rewiring and not just repositioning the boxes? Also what made you choose drywall for the walls over let’s say plywood? Less sanding/prep?
@KelseyRomitoDIY
6 ай бұрын
The wiring was tricky because the island used to be two tiers and had switches for the lights and garbage disposal on the top of the countertop. Repositioning boxes would have been a lot simpler. I chose drywall because at the time wood prices were OUT OF CONTROL and I was trying to save money and also wanted a really smooth finish. Plywood would totally work too. If I did it again, I would probably go with plywood.
