You helped save another Kitchenaid from the landfill tonight. Thank you for this tutorial.

This is an excellent no-nonsense video. Thank you! I had to use a rubber mallet to get the main shaft started down (after pulling out the pin), but apart from that everything went smoothly. The same work gear was worn on mine as the one in the video.

Nice video. Well done. Fixed my broken gear. Pro tip: Don't use the wrong size plunger to push meat into the grinder attachment (like I did)

The thing that tripped me up was I had to use a little force to move the agitator shaft down and out of place. Other than that, this was a relatively easy fix. Thanks! Plus, watching this video clued me into getting that snap pliers and food grade grease. This seems like a common repair so much so that once I ordered my part, Amazon knew to suggest the grease and grips to me on its sidebar.

Remove the small square drive screw at the back of the mixer (on the silver strip). once that is removed, take off the silver strip and remove the 4 square drive bolts. the top then wiggles off ( keep wiggling and pulling straight up - it'll come off) then follow this video.

There are lots of food grade grease products that are all alike. Amazon sell them. Usually you can simply reuse the old grease but if you want to buy new stuff a good one is: Impresa Products 4 Oz Food Grade Grease for Stand Mixer Universally Compatible- MADE IN THE USA

Hey I have the same mixer, but it’s of Kitchen aid 600. I’m trying to replace my gear in the mixer and I saw that you have provided a website for replacing parts, but it’s of Whirlpool’s. Would it make a difference if I bought the gear from Whirlpool’s website and replaced it in my Kitchen Aid 600?

Should matter as long as it is the same part number.

I removed the retaining ring but the hub gear stilll isn’t coming off, what gives? I could only lift it up to where the groove for the retaining ring ends.

I pushed from the top down while holding the bottom side with my hand. I, too, had to use a bit more force than I expected.
