I ran into you a couple years back at Oshkosh. What a great bird you have. I really enjoyed our conversation and ended up converting my S7 over to a tailwheel. Glad I came across this video upload.

That wooden framed hangar impressed me. Nice Job. Oh and yes the Mangy Fox was nice as well. Regards, Jim in NI UK

Thanks for the great explanation into the tail mods.... I was one of the "two viewers" to watch that. Definitely going to try your start up trucks on the 582 and see if it improves the kick back and rough start to idle transition

Awesome video thanks! One thing I wouldn’t put the heater on remote wifi switch because it would be dangerous if the heater was moved for a reason. Again awesome video and you’re a lucky man to have such a beautiful plane

Really enjoyed your walk around and flight Larry. I liked all your tail mods as well. I also have a zipper BB kit and NR 2 blade prop from Hal Stockman. I think I'll have to add that balance master to the list of must haves! I'm still building a 5 outback. Hope to see you again soon, we met at Oshkosh 2019. (bbs428 on the forum) All the best in 2020. Safe flying!

Good video. For your audio situation, you could get a little Zoom h1 with a wind muff, put it in a shirt pocket or similar. Works good, not hard to sync later.

Good morning Larry, can you still use the grass beside the runway for ski flying? I’m at Brodhead with no snow, I need a place to go with snow..
@av8r3400

Yes we do. The snow is melting quickly with temps still in the 40s and heavy rain forecast for the weekend! Yuk! I was hoping to put on the skis at my condition inspection in a couple weeks.

I’ll be setting my Wi-Fi heater up today, and I’ve got a work light stand like that 10’ from the plane so perrrrfect thanks for the idea!!! Why’d you go for two blade instead of three on the NR? What length? I’m tired of my IVO and have been drooling at the NRs! Thanks for the startup tips I’ll be hitting ignitions much later from now on!

Hal Stockman recommended the 2-blade 72" over the 3 because, as a rule, 2 blade props are more efficient than 3. Many people go with 3 blade props because they are usually smoother. With my engine (105 hp) there is no need for the third blade to absorb excess power. Hal runs this same prop and size on his plane.

Great video! Thank you! I'm building a model IV and is great to see your plane up close. I'm adding a trim tab to the elevator also and plan to add notches for the flap handle. What degrees did you set the notches at?
@av8r3400
4 жыл бұрын
I don't have them to specific degrees, just equally divided to thirds. I would say approximately 7º, 15º and 25º give or take...

Great detail! I have a Kitfox 4 with a Subaru. Your flap detent idea is nice. What is the approximate degree of flap for each setting? Keep up the great work. -Kirby

Hi Larry, what happened to your 26" tundra tires? What type of stall warning do you have, I would like to put something on my kitfox 4 1050☺

I take the tundras off for the winter to work with my skis. The stall warning is part of the Dynon D180 display.
