I had a couple pair of Klingbeil custom boots in the mid-late 90's. They were very nice boots for ice dance but they both wore-out in the same way with the back splitting open from the top.

The Adonis group and a true thief named R. Perna destroyed this company. I worked for him briefly, and he ran that company into the ground, as well. So sad that this happened. I miss Don so much.

Totally feel your pain. I bought my first and only pair of boots (for rollerskating) from Don at Klingbeil in Jamaica, Queens. From my first conversation with the receptionist to the moment I walked through the doors, you could feel the magic and the passion, the bagels and coffee were of course added bonus. Stepping into the boots was proof that they got it right! I've never felt so special, even though I wasn't an olympic pro, I still rec'd care and attention. Fast forward to maybe 2015, I had to replace something on the boot and called the Adonis group. I could tell the moment they picked up the phone that this was not the company I had grown to love. When I arrived It confirmed what I already knew, the magic Don and his father built was gone. I am really saddened as an old school new yorker (and from Queens!) that this type of company is harder and harder to come by. I secretly hope Don bring this back to life in some way or another. I would buy 2 pairs just to have a back up.

This is not an easy job,, my late cousin worked with a custom mountaineering boot maker in Italy for 15 years in the 80's. You have to know what you're doing. This is a sad to say, a dying art.

BIG Stick A year ago, I bought a brand new, never used pair of Klingbeil S3 boots for $66.49 on eBay. Nobody else bid on them. I guessed that they would fit me and if not, some kid was going to get a great pair of skates (my feet are tiny). They were a perfect fit. They were not easy to break in, but now they are great and there is no way it would be possible to break an ankle. My right ankle was broken twice because my skates were bought with too much growing room (2sizes) and my feet never grew. Also, I had to make skates last even when they were worn out. So these were a great find for me and I am grateful to have them.
