Paul, thanks for another one of your excellent and informative videos. I really enjoy practicing Kali and how you integrate the didactical teachings of Kali as you parallel Kali with the clinical aspect of hand to hand / weapons training in a real time scenario of workouts that you instill in me. Paul, please keep them coming along.

At first i thought "Pffh, i know everything you need to know about knive grips in kali. Sak Sak and Pakal with forward and backwards blade". But you put some interesting details in here, great work! Question: What do you think of a sak sak grip, where you put your indexfinger on the upper side of the knive and the end of the knive handle rests in your hand/on your thumb sattle? That way you can thrust with a knive in forward grip without the danger of slipping with your fingers on the blade by contact, but it often feels not so save when you slash with that grip.

Super explanatory. Question on blades, I have several bench made 810 models for the stud at the end. But I am thinking curved blades . Years ago my Philippine jkd instructor had one in his pocket. What is your opinion for that kind of weapon compared to the traditional eod knife?

Hi Paul, since you've mentioned it here: what are your thoughts on using a sabre grip on a filipino sword? You seem to be using more of a hammer grip when wielding both sword and single stick, quite like it's shown in _earlier_ sabre sources like Charles Roworth.

That is true! The penal code is so very restrictive of firearms, but oddly not edged weapons (ssshhhhhhh). As I recall you can open carry a fixed blade as long as the knife is in a scabbard or sheath, attached to your belt, and exposed. There is no stipulation on blade length outside, but there is if you enter a public place. I saw a homeless guy where I live and he was strapping a katana!

Any grip that utilizes the inside of the blade towards your own body is foolish. The old saying, "never cut towards yourself!!!" Reverse play forward is a far better 'defensive" technique. You can punch and cut as a last resort. If you go stabbing someone numerous times you could easily be mistaken for the predator not the prey in a court of law. And respectfully why the f*** would you pull a knife if you're wearing a sidear
