Nicely done! That mirror finish does do a couple things for the blade... For one, it slides through whatever you're cutting with less resistance making it cut MUCH better! Second is RUST! Rust only likes to form in pits in the metal, the mirror polish has very few if any pits so it's very rust resistant.
@nicholasstgelais2112

Wouldn't the polish he used act as a moisture barrier too?
@macgyver5108
Күн бұрын
@@nicholasstgelais2112 depends on which polish is used, most will wash off easy... There's always hot bluing if you like blue, then 100% (edible grade) carnauba wax. You can use an oven to hot blue/temper, or even a stovetop if you carefully start from the tang and heat the spine slowly working towards the tip. Just don't let the tip turn purple or it'll want to snap off later!

I tried to forge a spike over the winter but my hand crank blower from 1902, One of the bearings came loose right when a spike was just getting hot enough to start moving the steel , the 400 champion blower stopped turning.. Ego loves a critic lol I've been guilty of such. I've learned so much, far much more from KZitem videos than school and college. Skills they just don't teach you and you need. Use the tools we have or can borrow to get the job done. I even learned locksmithing and making my own picks. Also hydroponic growing before it was cool in college and school. Locksmiths are a majority of rip off merchants, destroying the locks and replacing them when they could have just picked them. Even safes are simple to open if someone asked me. Not for crime!
