Hello. I just found your channel and I love everything about it! I have binged watched you all weekend. I love seamed sweaters and appreciates that Kim likes them too. They fit me so much better than any other type sweater and it is rare to see them featured on a channel. Nothing more satisfying than a beautiful mattress stitch seam! However I am going to knit a Ranunculus soon because you two both rave about the fit. …. I am hoping it will be the first raglan sleeve that I actually like on me.

Glad you were finally able to broadcast. I just cast on my Dingley Dell. Funny you should talk about Grammar. About a month ago I looked up the past tense of "knit" and "Cast". The formal (British) past tense of Knit is Knit. However, "knitted" is acceptable in the US/North America. However, past tense of "cast" is "cast.

Hi Kim, about your Yume, I had the same problem with my Yume of "excess yarn under the arms", as you put it. In my view, it's that the underarm is too low. I corrected this with some surgery (Fruity Knitting explains this very well). I took out about 3 cm (a little over 1 inch) of stockinette just after the lace, then Kitchener-stitched the 2 parts back together. Obviously, if you're knitting a new Yume, just do the sleeve-body split a few cm earlier.

Kim! How about making pillows with those gorgeous yarns you dyed? I think they would look great in a stripey textured pattern like the one from the Whidbey Bag, or the Kuno's Cushions by Anne Ventzel (I plan to make some this fall). That does help. Thank you. I think I’ll order a skein and if I don’t like it for the sweater I can always make a hat with it. Also, can you share the printing company that you used for your pdf pattern. I just had one printed at a local print shop in a neighboring small town and it cost as much as the pattern. My granddaughter and I are making a dress for her and fortunately she was able to help me cut it out and tape it all together. She’s a puzzle and Lego queen so it was no problem for her☺️ Books! Homegoing and American Dirt (different authors) are two books that really had an impact on me. Not light reading though but important. If you prefer something lighter (which is all I’m capable of reading right now with the world gone mad) Nothing To See Here is a sweet and quirky book. If you like murder mystery’s The Thursday Night Murder Club is good and humorous (because what’s funnier than murder). The Magpie Murders:a novel by John Horowitz is very cleverly written. And anything by Ann Pachett. I think you listened to The Dutch House. Hope that I didn’t overwhelm you!

I say "I knitted this sweater" too, Kim. It's not "incorrect"; it's a regional variation. So is saying "spit" (rather than "spat") for the past tense of "spit". It's all good.

knitted "Knit is an irregular verb, being that the past participle word 'knitted' is also correct. Use of the past tense verbs 'had' or 'have' is appropriate when the word sequence is 'had knit' or 'have knit' (which is past tense). 'I have knit a sweater'. Modern grammar changed can include the word 'knitted' as past tense." However, "cast" is the past tense of the verb "to cast (on)".

Really appreciated the thoughts about changing plans - I moved 3000km last year, and now all of my shawl plans have morphed into jumper/sweater plans. I was feeling a bit weird recently about having all sorts of single skeins that I didn't know what to do with, but I've actually been having so much fun taking them all out and putting them together in new ways. I'm at the point where I LOVE nearly everything in my stash which makes it much easier (there's one annoying skein that I bought to put with a jumper quantity which I ended up selling, RIDICULOUS decision, so it reminds me of that every time I look at it).

Hi Ladies! I always enjoy your podcasts! The longer the better is what “floats my boat”. I read the book and saw the movie for Where the Crawdad’s Sing. I loved both, although I may have enjoyed the book just a little more. ( maybe because I read it first, and just adored it). I tried to listen to The Book Woman…but just couldn’t do it. Probably because of the narrator…and I’m a reader! I, too, would like to see Mrs. Harris goes to Paris. Now, to knitting…your sweaters are beautiful that you knit. I’m still working on my Ranunculus, I’m to the split for the sleeves, and am just nervous…so it has been sitting in a basket for months. I guess I’m just loving socks right now. I’d love to make the summer sweater , but figure if I can finish the Ranunculus, I probably couldn’t handle this. Odd thing is, I think I’m past the more challenging parts. So, as I ramble on…I’m going to get back to it ASAP. I, too, had the virus. But it wasn’t bad at all. I was tired, and had a dull headache first, then I got a sore throat and a cough. I managed to get a uti with it which was the worst part of all. But as soon as the antibiotic worked, I was fine. Every symptom went away. So 2 days were rough. My husband who is not vaccinated, was my biggest worry. But he did not get it! It took 11 days for a negative reading. I was really bored, and just didn’t feel like doing anything. Not because I hurt, I was just tired. So, I can say I’ve had it. Thankful for the vaccine which made it manageable as I am a diabetic. I have always wanted to order a kit from Barrett wool, and am eager to see yours knit up! Both of you enjoy the rest of your month, and being with your families. I will look forward to your next podcast! You make me want to knit, knit, knit! ❤️🧶❤️🧶😉

Kim, I am doing the After the Storm Cardigan by Kelly Fowler. She has you hold 10 sts either side of the front and back at underarms. Then you Kitchener them together before proceeding with the sleeve. Maybe something like that would help reduce the amount of fabric under the arms. It means you have 40 less stitches in that underarm bodice. Not sure how that would translate to a circular yoke but I’m sure you could make it work.

Sorry for my delayed response, but that is a great idea! I'll have to look into it. Thank you so much for the suggestion. :) Kim

Hi Kim and Jonna. I am enjoying your videos. I am knitting and crocheting again at the age of 75 and am enjoying it so much. I finished crocheting two afghans, one for my daughter and one for my 11 year old granddaughter. I am teaching my 17 year old daughter and my 11 year old granddaughter to knit. They are doing great. Both of you are great knitters. Your items that you made are beautiful. Take Care.😊

Kim, I am a retired nurse and EEG tech...you should look into the keto diet which has success in ameliorating seizure activity. Maybe you already have some knowledge of this, but felt compelled to comment. Lots of resources on this diet as it relates to epilepsy.

Hi Sandra, Sorry for my delayed reply, but thank you so much for your suggestion. I had actually heard of the KETO diet helping with epilepsy and we're definitely looking into it. :) Kim

Kim, I just finished a Yume sweater too and I don't like the armscye area either. I feel like there's too much material and it's too low (almost to my waist!) I think there's a design flaw and the yoke is too deep before separating the sleeves. It would take some work to change the increases to add the right amount of stitches but make the yoke a couple of inches shorter before separating the sleeve. Definitely disappointing after all that work.

Hi Anne, Sorry for my delayed reply, but thank you so much for commenting. I still love my Yume and it's definitely wearable, but I have to be more careful to check the fit of my future yoked sweaters as I'm knitting them. :) Kim

Dear Kim, according to my grammar you can use ‘to knit’ both as an irregular verb, ‘I knit a sweater yesterday’ or as a regular verb, ‘I knitted a sweater yesterday - so you haven’t done anything wrong! 👍🏼 😉😘

Yes, I have definitely looked into it since then and am continually learning (relearning?) to improve my grammar. Now I know how to use knit/knitted, cast, and so fun vs. so much fun (see the Episode 10 comments). :) Kim

I am in KAL and the sweater is so interesting to knit but I am a slow knitter, I hope to finish by the end of August! I also love the idea of wearing a sweater over a dress, what a great idea! I am also knitting the Yume but I don't love the doubling of the yarn. I might frog and try again. Thank you for the inspiration.

We can do it!! Kim didn't double the yarn, she just used one strand of fingering. I hope you don't have to frog!
