I was playing in standard tuning and I was like he didn't say drop D! No wonder it was off. Playing in standard wasn't to bad until play along time. I can't get the 3rd string hammer on clean on the C chord like at the 11 minute mark. Thanks for this!

That makes sense. Thanks for the tip. The opening G chord sounded wrong in regular tuning, and I thought the F# barre chord sounded better.

What a flashback learning this song like 30 years ago. I agree that Slash melodic solos are good but don´t forget Izzy Stradlin always very underrated. Nice goldtop by the way.

This is one of the first songs I learned on guitar, long before I learned the chords it's built around. Was truly an eye opener years later when I found out all these iconic riffs I had learned came from the same small handful of chords I hadn't taken the time to study. That's all it took for me to go from avoiding music theory like the plague, to being absolutely fascinated by it.

One of my favourite songs ever. Learned to play the Bob Dylan version when I was younger. Started strumming again during lockdown after a 30 year break and taught myself to play it again. I started my guitar journey with you and now, a few years later, I'm pretty decent. Thank you, you're awesome. One thing, that would be a nice to have, is how you get the guitar sound. So what effects you're using etc. Or an in depth video about pedals, how to get specific sounds etc.

It seems to me, you may have spent a little time figuring out the pedals. A lot of this sound/song sound is off of the pedals. I know this is not Justin's Pedal page, but a quick blurb like I am using a chorus, delay, and reverb .. if that is what you used might help the rest of us get the correct tone.

I'm a huge GnR fan (went both nights Tottenham this year, both at West hams last time) but hate this song. It's my loo break) But the first solo is a good one for learners. As sounds more difficult than it is and at an accessible speed I.e. not too silly fast.

Having a tougher time with the intro than the solos. When doing the pull-off arpeggios, the pad of my other fretting fingers are unintentionally muting the pull-off/hammer-on strings. Not sure how to correct this.

One thing is missing from these otherwise wonderful free lessons is a metrononome timed playing. But i guess this is for proper students along with the tablature. And a fun fact, i remember a few years back when Justin uploaded Patience by that very band and they obliged him to erase it. So take advantage people as long as it is still up.

Hi there. It sounds (and looks) to me as if you hit some strings of that G chord in a seccond downstroke, right before hitting the thinnest string on the 3rd Fret in an upstroke. It's not in the tabs however and you only do it when playing it a bit faster during the demonstrations of the video. It sounds really cool but it's not on the record. In the tabs it would probably represented as a grace note or grace chord (if there is such a thing). I noticed though, that my brain adds this downstroke when I hear the intro in my head though. I Just wanted to point that out. I might try to actually add this to to how I play it. Should I? Does Anybody else notice that?
