The Miller knot is just too hard to tie, while the San Diego Jam is easy. The San Diego Jam is just an improved clinch knot, but with the knot tied around two strands of the line instead of just one. The key in making the San Diego Jam easy to tie is to put your right pinky and fourth fingers in the loop just above the lure/fly/swivel. The thumb and index finger of your lef hand makes and upper loop between the doubled line. Then you can use the thumb and index finger of the right and left hand, and long finger of the right hand, to pass the tag end around the doubled line 5-7 times (depending on how thick the line is). Finish the knot by passing the tag end beween the pinky fourth finger to pull it through the loop just above the lure/fly/swivel. The knot now stable and you can start to tighten it, and "improve" it into the upper loop. Try it. It's really easy, because you keep constant tension on the line throughout the tie by using fingers from both hands.

Is there a table somewhere showing the break strength of all the knots you guys have tested?
