Get the PDF here: ebook-file.s3.amazonaws.com/guitar-soloing-pocket-bible.pdf NEW! Creative Soloing course by Steve Stine: g.guitarzoom.com/kje In this guitar lesson, Steve Stine shows you how to create any scale you want simply by expanding the minor or major pentatonic scale to whatever you want. Steve also shows you how to practice it in one position on the guitar, AND explore the sounds of that scale using the 6th string as a drone to practice over. When you learn to "explore" the colors of different scales, you can then learn to use them in your playing, your songwriting, and your solos, but you first need to spend some time learning what they sound like, and what works best for your musical situation. Hey Steve! I didn't use to leave comments on social media, but this video is excellent: - plucking the string and playing notes over it sounds lovely, and I love these riffs ("Wherever I may roam", "Dead skin mask", "I just got paid", etc.). That not only allows You to hear how the notes compose to the plucked string, but also technically You have to avoid any contact to the string that would suppress the sustained sound. - remarkable combination of theory and scales with a practice excersise. Playing scales at the first glance seem boring, unnecessary theory, so many people resist. But in a long run You can't play consciously if You doesn't know the notes location on the fretboard. I bet it is incredibly hard to prepare a video lesson choosing in between of "simple things over and over again" for beginners and the theoretical, quality material for a narrow group of people. With this lesson You truly hit a jackpot! Cheers, Mike

@stinemusiclessons
5 жыл бұрын
There's really no "wrong" way to learn, there's just what makes sense to you, and what you need to further develop your guitar path. That's what makes guitar so crazy is that we are all so different, and some people need more of "this" and others need more of "that". But in saying that, learning to "listen" to scale tones and how they work with chords (even just single notes) is very important to develop creativity, ear training and many other elements that "logic" doesn't always offer. Don't get me wrong, learning theory and understanding music is VERY important for many players, but mixing exploration and creativity is also important.

Hey Steve eny suggestion on learning all the scales at once or the most important ones that are used the most
@stinemusiclessons
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, the "most common" ones would be major and minor pentatonic to begin with, and they are very useful in multiple styles/situations, and then the common "major" and "minor" diatonic scales would be next. There are so many good ones, but those are great places to start.

Hey Steve, I'm following you for sometime and I think you are one of the most gifted teachers here on KZitem. I have a problem though, hope you read this comment and reply back. I am starting to practice your meandering technique with pentatonics and I'm able do that at 90 bpm quarter notes on metronome. But my problem is that my right hand keeps hitting the wrong strings. Can you help me in what I should do to improve that. Thanks a lot!
@stinemusiclessons
5 жыл бұрын
Honestly, one of the most important things to do is to slow down even more when you practice to develop the picking hand. Another thing you can do is practice simple ideas with JUST the picking hand to better develop synchronization so you hit the proper strings. Most of the time, patience and practice will make these elements more cohesive as you continue to learn and practice, so don't worry too much, BUT you can always try those things mentioned to focus more on the problem. I have a video coming out this week with some simple practice tips to help develop your fretting hand...

Sorry about that, Peter... the PDF must have been moved or deleted during a website update, or something like that. I am not sure. I think this PDF has most of the same info: ebook-file.s3.amazonaws.com/guitar-soloing-pocket-bible.pdf Hope this helps! :-) Just wanted to let you know, Steve’s holding a free webinar today (Tuesday, June 15th) at 5 PM Pacific called 5 Music Theory Shortcuts Every Guitarist Should Know. In the webinar, you’ll discover: -- 4 essential chords you need to know to play 90% of popular songs so you’ll never have to look up tabs -- 1 easy way to use the major scale to find ANY chord on the fretboard. -- 1 simple tip to memorize all the notes. -- How to choose the right scale for your solos so you can improvise over any song across the fretboard. The webinar is NOT on KZitem. If you want to join, go here to get registered: guitarzoom.com/musictheorymadeeasy20/webinar/registration/ ...and hurry, because spots are limited. :-) Hope to see you at the webinar! -- Mike from GuitarZoom
