First, the fabric you framed....it's not directly on wood, right? Wood has acid, acid will eat fabric. It also yellows the fabric. It needs to be lined first. Ok, about prices. You have to understand current fabric prices to get an idea of selling prices. Any good quality quilting fabric is between $12-$18 a yard right now. Even if it's not a novelty print, any OOP fabric has value. Think if you ran out of fabric while making a quilt, you have time and $$$ invested already. You will pay up for that missing fabric! Home Dec fabrics cost even more. Some are $200-$300 a yard and you're right, you need a lot of yardage for covering furniture or making drapes. I've sold high end fabric samples for $25-$50 each. People will make small pillows with them. You underpriced your barkcloth-like fabric. $15 a yard was a crazy bargain. When selling IKEA or Marmekko fabrics consider selling by the yard even if you only have 2 yards. Fabrics aren't sold in IKEA stores anymore and I think they may stop selling altogether. It's always been home Dec fabric so most people just want pillows. Comes in different weights, the canvas is most common but they did do a lighter weight cotton. That was sold in pkgs of 5 meters. With most IKEA it's all about the print. Some designers are more sought after as well. I just sold some for $30 a yard, had 2 yards and the same person bought both. Any Swedish/Finnish design fabric has value. Oh, there's 2 fabrics that have a sheen to them, polished cotton and sateen. Sateen is woven that way and has a nap, polished/coated cotton has the sheen applied to it. It will almost always be removed when washed. The velveteens we're fabulous! Again, underpriced. Minimum of $25 a yard and those designs have added value. I would have gone $35-$40 a yard. With velvet/velveteen you are ok selling by the piece because you need extra yardage because of the one way nap. I'd have doubled the price on both. You can always add best offers to the listings so aim on the high side when you have good vintage fabrics. Daisy Kingdom can be very hot or miss so check it first. Mary Engelbreit fabrics are going up as with all things ME. Ten yrs ago you couldn't give it away. Kaffe Fasset quilting cottons are another bolo. Discontinued prints can go for $100 a yard. I was just at an estate sale of a quilter/doll maker and actually went back for another day. Doll kits that already sold overnight, only 1 left. I got quilt kits, fabric, rare quilt books and would have bought more but a crowded small house and it was so hot inside! You had to wait in line for people to leave before getting in. I was dripping sweat, carrying 2 30# bags from room to room...it was awful. These were also the rudest shoppers I've ever encountered at a sale and I've been doing this since the 90's. Anyway, too much fabric to take time to go thru and thousands of books. There were other crafts too. I have already nearly tripled my cost on just the doll kits so well into profit, still have a few more things to list. We got other things too, household, collectibles, etc. I'm keeping 2 Quilt kits to finish myself. Prices were higher than I like to pay so took some chances. Hopefully I get finished today so I can move on to listing other things.

@charlottemccaig578 I found over 8 yards of Marimekko linen last night, draped beautifully on a hanger at Goodwill. I came home and rewatched this and re-read all the comments. It’s a huge print and I’m really scared to offer it in 1-2 yard pieces as it could make fantastic drapes, or maybe a tablecloth. The selvedge says 2014, it was introduced in 2015. Not exactly vintage but I’m not seeing it even on Etsy, as available in either of the two color ways. What’s the verdict? I can’t even come up with a price. 50 a yard seems too low. 100 seems too high. Auction? Do people auction fabric? Omg. Analysis paralysis. Shannon, I even went back over to the bins of shame and watched and re-read. I wouldn’t mind making $600-$1000 on my super find. By the way, I am a fabric freak, and I do collect, or did, patterns and fabric even though I can’t sell a straight line. I do dye fabric though.

@@jyllhyll Not everyone wants 8 yards of fabric! If you list it per yard then that means of someone wants 7-8 yards then they better hurry and grab it. Most only want 1-3 yards so they won't even bother looking at an 8 yd listing. Just list it by the yard with a best offer option. Tell them if they buy more than 1 yard it will be cut continuously. Do not cut it into pieces before it sells. Since it's not really old it probably won't be worth over $50 a yard. It may not have been popular, it may not be colors that someone wants in their home...but they'd want pillows or kitchen blinds. That's why you sell per yard. The really high prices of Marimekko are the much older prints. Just keep that in mind. I'd be happy with $49-$50 a yard but you have to decide for yourself. It may take a bit to find the right buyer but it will sell.

@@charlottemccaig578 Super helpful. I spent the entire morning cleaning my dining room table and vacuuming all around it, so it wouldn’t get any dog hair on it just to measure. I think I will read it and re-read some listings and pretty much follow what you said and any helpful hints I pick up from the listings. Might be time for me to buy some really sharp scissors! Thanks!!!

Another Fabulous Video ! Always learn something new from you & appreciate your research & finds. I commented on the last video about the Key West hand prints and listed 2 yds and it sold the same day for 78.00. I was in Goodwill last week and found rolls of designer fabric, I bought 3- 5 foot rolls. (I drive a small car and it was a challenge to get them in.) One was a beautiful Asian tapestry By Regal called Kyoto. The others were -Stroheim & Romann named Corinth and Brunshwig & Fils. The last 2 I could not find comps on Ebay for or Google so I'm guessing their vintage. Paid $22 for all 3. It's fun to come across these !

Seersucker gets its look through manufacturing process and is uniform, plissé fabric is treated after manufacturing, so puckering or pleats may go away after ironing. Thank you for another great video and the key words, now I'm inspired to go through my own stash!

I love selling vintage fabric, I just wish i could find more of it lol! I sold some Leon & Rosenblatt fabric with bright pink and green hippos, it was about 2 and half yards for $70! That's another brand to look out for, the bright mod design ones seem to do better. Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful video! I sewed for a living and I have yards and yards of fabrics that I will have to unfortunately start to sell. So your videos give me the "you can do this" feeling. Lol trust me, its going to be hard as I just love fabric soooooo much! Yep, a bit of a hoarder now that I really have no use for it. 😢

Have you ever sold precut 4 inch squares? I picked up a large bag full of different fabrics in sorted in baggies from an estate sale. I was thinking of small lots with 4 or 6 fabrics that go together. Not sure how many squares are in each bag but will count a few. Great for quilters.
