What he identifies as a "Pinkish Ruby" is actually a Pink Sapphire. Rubies are RED. All other colors of corundum are Sapphires.

yeah, this is a really interesting cultural issue that I plan on creating a panel discussion video for. In the West, any pink corundum is called ruby, however in Asia, a pink corundum is still called a ruby as long as it has a reddish tone to the pink colour. Who is correct? Cound't say. But I think it will make for a very interesting gem expert panel discussion!

Just because diamond traps all the light inside it with total internal reflection , it continues to shine at different angles even in dark … all the light reflected by other stones will be less than diamonds. But still coloured stones are soo beautiful along the side of diamonds to make them more beautiful..

It is quite difficult to get there as it is often restricted. I would advise using a reputable travel agent, checking government websites and keeping an eye on the local news Myanmar when planning a trip to any Burmese minng region.

Agree that such a ruby does not need diamonds! The brilliance of diamonds can even take away from the beauty of coloured gemstones in my opinion

Perhaps "distract from the beauty of coloured gemstones" is a better way to put it. The rubies are still beautiful 😀

Yeah for sure. That said, when people are interested in using diamonds I always recommend going for smaller but better quality diamonds depending on their budget. Next to low colour diamonds, coloured stones often look de-saturated, however when you put a bright coloured stone next to top colour diamonds (D,E,F) the lack of colour in the diamonds helps to make the coloured stone pop and the colour in the coloured stone will also help emphasize the lack of colour in the diamonds 😜.

Lmao she was looking at you like don’t put your hand prints on my stones lol we Ruby collectors are very protective of our stones and when you was putting your hand prints on those stones she was thinking damn I gotta clean my stones now cause that drives us nuts !! FINGER PRINTS ON OUR RUBIES !!

yeah, it is a bit difficult to fine quality rubies. Lower quality is not to hard to get but good clean stones are rare.

Haha yeah, this is actually an interesting cultural phenomenon. In Asia, much more pink is accepted in rubies (even a fuchsia coloured corundum can be called a ruby, especially in Myanmar/Burma), where as in the West, to be accepted as a ruby there must be a clear dominance of red.
