It's not the best domain but a good combo for this domain is by starting out as a order of scribes wizard than dip into knowledge domain if you build it right you can have expertise in all knowledge skills and conceding that both classes are very bookish they work very well on a practical level and a roleplay level

I created a half-orc knowledge domain cleric, inspired by the rude orc librarian in Skyrim. My first character, we are all new players and like you said, knowledge domain is not very "strong/meta" but what I'd like to appreciate is the "lore" potential. I get to know 6 languages with my sage background! Mostly I'm the Sherlock of our party, because of all the utility from this subclass. Not super strong, but nice pick for a "librarian" character :)

I find Knowledge Clerics are weak mechanically but flavor wise can be pretty cool. You will be the DMs best friend especially in deep lore and well thought out campaigns

About 6th lv one, at first I thought of radio communication combined with Ghostwise Halfling's Silent Speech, but I think Telepath feat would work much better. At least, if all else fails, Clerics can fall back to Spirit Guardian and Spiritual Weapon.

Yeah I just hate to use a Channel Divinity on what is essentially a 2nd lvl spell. The Cleric chassis is still incredibly powerful though so the worst clerics can still be better than higher ranked ones of other classes.

Its fun in rn, but that's about its biggest advantage. My dm gave me a nice home brew race buff. Which if because I'm an owlfolk I have a massive wingspan. So I can apply touch spells at a 10ft reach. Which means inflict wounds or cure wounds at 10ft. Thanks dm. And I can fly. But we are in icewind Dale so I need to make checks usually. So I'm fairly balanced
