You covered every reassembly problem that I had - - especially the reverse height and tweaking the lens gear that was too tight. My 55 year-old projector is back in operation!

I bought the kit years ago, and finally got around to starting to install it today. Mistake one, I used the nice looking printed color instructions that came with it. There is what I found to be a KEY difference between those instructions and this video. In the written instructions I have it says to remove the storage area. Then it says to remove the elevating foot. Well I found it practically impossible to remove the storage compartment because the elevating foot was in the way, as I was following the printed instructions and taking them taking it step by step. Here in the video you removed the screws from BOTH before removing EITHER from the machine. I got to the point in the written instructions where I'm supposed to do something with the spring hook and the solenoid plunger. I was completely stumped, so I did what I SHOULD have done first, WATCH THIS VIDEO!. I anticipate smooth sailing from this point, once I get something like that grease and gun. Thanks! I have a LOT of slides from a summer in the UK back in 1979 that I have been wanting to view for ages. Soon now!

I bought he repair kit for my 750H on Amazon and a few hours later my 44-year-old slide projector is operational once again. The solenoid installation was a little tricky but, after dropping the plunger once, I was able to get it all together. Helpful video!

Just fixed my 750 today using your repair kit! I am not able to show my aunts and uncles and other extended family members racks and racks of slides tomorrow for christmas eve! thank you for making this video it was great. The hardest part for me was pushing that gear onto the focus motor shaft. Even with the same set of channel locks that I own, it took several attempts to get it all the way on.

My Model 750 was purchased in Hong Kong in the late 60's and the advance mechanism quit working many years ago so I manually pressed the carousel forward or backward while pushing the controls but that got to be too annoying to continue. The remote did not work either but now I know why. So it was retired to the closet with all of the carousels. About 5-7 years ago I found a youtube video on repairing this unit and bought the 2 piece kit...that was a mistake that I only discovered last week when I got around to working on it. So I got the 4 piece in 3 days and commenced to follow your instructions. Many years ago I rebuilt what were essentially IBM electric ball head typewriters so I figured this would be right down my alley. The piston was the most difficult but I finally used enough force to get the link to seat in that recess. If I could have one more tool in my arsenal (in case I have to do this again) it would be those channel locks with the hole drilled in one jaw that was the perfect depth to seat the gear. I hammered mine in using a socket and supported the focus rod but it never seemed to fully seat. It is working and I am back in business, much to the chagrin of my wife who has enjoyed 49 years of putting up with me and 35 of them not having to watch the slide show!!! Too bad because I am getting out those carousels and boring my grandchildren one day soon. If I had it to do over again I don't think I would have all of my photos made into slides. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

This is an excellent video. Thank you so much for making it. I was able to order the solenoid plunger repair kit and your approach to the reassembly process - which is daunting since there is no space to work - made it all go back together without much hassle. I never could have done it without your guidance. You the man!

Thank you so much for that great video 🙂 My Carousel 650H (almost identical) is now working fine, thanks to your very detailed procedure. I had to manufacture the plastic part attached to the plunger of the solenoid - couldn't wait for a kit - but it was worth it.

Thanks for the detailed video. I was able to order the plunger tab and rivet as mine was broken. I followed your steps and repaired quickly. The hardest part was punching the small rivet but used a small nail to get it to taper and then hammered lightly. You may want to include in your recommended tool so folks can order one if they don't have one. Thanks again.

Small thing but explaining how to insert the white component differently, adding snap the rear an then the front tab down" Regardless, this was a great vid and I'd recommend it to anyone.

This is a great help video and I'm glad I had someone else do all this stuff. My problem is that everything works great EXCEPT the lamp. I thought it was maybe the bulb, but replacing that with a new one didn't sol the problem. And the original repair shop is no longer in business. It seems that there must be an electrical connection issue. Any ideas?

Why didn’t you show it on? Great go to video to troubleshoot. Great tips to lube parts. We just bought one from eBay and the light comes on, but we don’t see it coming out of the place where the lense is. Does it have to have a slide in to make it project outside on the screen. It lights up just fine, but the light isn’t coming out of the hole. He just got for Father’s Day from me. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Hello Curt! Greetings from Mexico City, I just found some old slides of my family and would love to see them in the KODAK CAROUSEL 650H Projector. I followed your revision on this model for the 650H and I could find what's the problem with the forward and backward button. It makes a sound when you press it *kind of electric* but it doesn't work with the control or the buttons. I have tried 80 and 140s trays and none move forward or backwards. Everything seems to be okey, I only saw the white thing on the top of the ventilator is kind of rusted and started to fall apart maybe from humidity (I have some photos if you like to see them) I can use it in random select and doing the manual move of the tray but Im worried I will broke it. I will love to keep this item since it remember family moments If you could help me to find whats wrong would be greatly appreciated. Have a good day! Stay safe!

Hi Curt, Any suggestions on what I should look at for slides that are only partially dropping down into my projector? I didn't see any obstructions, and I can manually insert a slide into the projector. But when I do this by advancing the slide tray, the slide only goes half way down. Any tips to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Hi Curt! Great video. Got the link/gear kit and did the replacement. On your instruction page, Disassembly step 9, you caution to not break the link mount on the solenoid. Guess what, it broke. Tried supergluing the mount back to the slug, put it back together, and did the back and forth test SAT. But when I completed the reassembly, the advancer ran continuously in forward only. Going to take it back apart tomorrow to see about the link and slug status. If this's the issue, how do I repair it or do you have the part? Any other suggestions?

Got the kit installed and followed cleaning and oiling. Somehow, disconnected a spring on left of cam wheel. There are two, on the grey side. Is there a picture I can find on line to see where they connect? I have looked everywhere but cannot see them close enough. Actually need to see the two springs there close up. Suggestions? Great video!

I used your video to get as far as replacing the solenoid link, but I can’t get my 750H to reverse. It just advances. I’ve tried adjusting the height of the solenoid mount all up and down and nothing seems to work. I can manually grab the advance/reverse arm up top and move it through the reverse motion and nothing appears to be binding...Thoughts?

Curt, I just purchased a used 750h to replace my old 750 h that was destroyed in a fire. I still have all my old slides in about 10 carousels. The used projector (750h) came with one carousel. The problem I have is my old carousels will not work in the used 750h but the carousel that came with the replacement 750h will work. Both my old projector and the used replacement I purchased are model 750h. Were there different carousels for the 750h? Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Hello! Do you have any good resources or a tutorial or tips on how to disassemble an Ektanar projector lens? I have an Ektanar 4 to 6 in f/3.5 lens that has fungus on the rear element. I can get access to the elements in the front zoom unit, and there is an element between the zoom unit and the rear lens barrel that is easy to get to. But the rear set of elements is in a plastic barrel and I don't see any screws or anything for getting the elements out of this section so I can clean them. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Curt, i installed all the parts of the 4 piece repair kit to repair my 750H projector that would not advance the slides. But now I have a new problem. The slide advance won't stop, it's now continuous. However, when I turn the projector upside down the slide advance function seems to work just right, one time then stops until I press the advance button again. What did I do wrong? Any thoughts?
